17-11-2016 Simba is a 6 year old male Hound Cross who was born in Cyprus in October 2010 and found himself in rescue in October 2011. Poor Simba has been sat in kennels for 5 years and is still waiting for his forever home so he has now come to Many Tears in the hope someone will offer him a home. Simba can be a little timid when first meeting new people, but soon starts to relax. He enjoys his walks and is very good on the lead. Simba can be restless at times but this is down to him being stressed in kennels, so he would benefit from a quiet and calm environment which at least one other dog to help him adjust to his new life and help him with house training should he need it.
The rescue in Cyprus sent us this about Simba
Simba, sweet like chocolate. This gorgeous shy boy will steal your heart! Simba is timid in front of strangers but when he gets to know you beyond his shy look, you can see the wagging tail! This boy will need warm hugs and an an extra welcoming & calm environment, he has the need to feel safe and loved.
Loves his bed and needs a calm/relaxed environment.

19-11-16 UPDATEč FROM SYLVIA
Simba is in my care until a good forever home is found. This means today he has come out of kennels and into the office for the day. At the end of work hours he will come into our home and slowly we hope he will learn to love and trust us. He is a lovely older hound who has probably never had a home of his own, I am proud to be able to help him, but hope someone will want to adopt him, so he won’t have too many upheavals in his life.
There is no adoption fee, he will be just by donation, but a very special home is needed. A calm strong home as when scared he pulls like a train, and I think would run with fear. A home with quiet gentle voices compassion love and understanding, this wonderful person who would want to adopt this boy MUST realize, it’s the same as a marriage should be. “ in sickness or in health, for richer or poorer, till death do we part”
Simba's first night in our house did not go quite as planned. We made up a very comfy bed and made the room very warm. We have so many dogs in the house, and he is so worried about the world we wanted to make his surroundings very comfy and calm. There were two beds in the room, he chose the unheated grotty bed, not the plush warm one. We spent time talking to him and left him , sad that he had no desire to be with us in our room.
In the morning I took him out, he had been clean all night, and he did what was needed. off the lead in the garden he is to scared and runs straight back to the door, but on the lead he performs and so then comes back, tail between his legs, and scuttles under the table.
though so worried, he is gentle and relaxes as you stroke him.he is very special, 5 years awaiting a home in one very large kennels, and now this.
Everyone who loves dogs should consider helping him. i took him on in hopes with truthful updates some one will give their time love help and heart, to give him the future he so deserves. In the day he was with the office staff and me in the office and out on walks. We hope the days will get easier for him, and his tail might wag for us soon.
Simba is slowly trusting the office staff however worried at any staff that come in. He is starting to take special treats from our hands, cheese is a favorite!
He sleeps under my desk and feels safe in his space
On his walk today he started to sniff instead of pulling like a train and his tail slowly started to rise as his interest grew.
Each day his confidence grows but this is slow and if spooked at this stage he will bolt so a calm, experienced home is definitely needed.
Tomorrow Simba will be having Acupuncture with Jo to see if this helps relax him.
Today Simba had acupuncture as we hope this will help him to relax.
Poor Simba is so scared of life. Bill and I really try to help him, as do the staff, but nothing really has until he saw June another dog from Cyprus, then his tail wagged. However the reality of two very scared older black dogs finding a forever home is so slim that its practically non-existent. Also I already have so many indoors, to bring another in may cause Bill to leave!!!! So I am asking the impossible, is there a forever home or a fosterer who has the space secure home love and patience for two terrified institutionalised dogs. These dogs have been cared for the best the rescue could where they came from, but they so needed a home and not a kennel.
We are renowned for achieving the impossible, so who's up for a challenge to help me?
Simba continues to gain tiny little bits of courage every day, To the untrained eye you can barely see the difference, but as Bill and I live with him we can. He now has stopped hiding all the time under our table and though still scared he ventures out. He has an incredible nature as most dogs this scared end up snapping, but he never has. We are very very careful with him, as if he got free we would never see him again, as once running he just would not stop.
A VERY VERY special homes needed for this boy. One with another kind dog, one that expects nothing bar being able to help a very poor poor dog.
Simba has gone to foster with Sylvia's daughter as they bonded as soon as they met, although we are sad to see him go from the office we know this is his chance as Leah has a wealth of experience with scared dogs.
ADOPTION DETAILS - SIMBA IS BY DONATION
Although SIMBA is by donation rather than the full adoption fee, please make your donation a reasonable one in line with the costs that have been incurred. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.
