22-12-2016 Sausage is a 2 year old female Pug cross Cavalier who has been given to us by her breeder to find a forever home. She is very quiet and a little shut down at the moment, she is a very dear lady wanting to make friends but is not confident enough to do so yet.  She gets on well with all dogs and needs a canine companion in her new home to help her get used to the sights and sounds of everyday life and give her some much needed confidence. She will have never lived in a home before and will need help with housetraining and this will be easier if she can follow the example of a resident dog. At the moment Sausage is too scared to walk on a lead but as she starts to settle we will gently introduce this to her.  She will thrive in a quiet home with a patient owner who would like to give her lots of love and patience to help her become a happy, confident pet. If you can offer Sausage the home that she really deserves then please apply as soon as possible and help her to take the next step into a better life. Sausage has her own passport.

05-04-17 UPDATE

Sausage has been at the rescue since before Christmas, and has been in foster with us now for 2 days.  She is a stunningly beautiful girl, who is a very kind dog.  She has worked out sitting on the sofa with our other dogs already, and constantly looks at them for support, so she will need at least one other kind dog to live with.
She has been totally clean in the house since she arrived, sleeps downstairs with some of our other dogs, and we haven't heard a peep out of her during the night.  She is still nervous when people approach her, but if you talk to her gently, she will crouch down and allow you to pick her up.
She came out for a walk with our dogs today on a lead attached to her harness & collar, and she is walking well, but sudden noises do make her jump and try and get away from them.
She is a lovely dog, is happy to sit next to me on the sofa, on her terms, allows me to stroke her, takes chicken from me and is only worried when you are walking about.  If the back door is open, she will run outside and watch you.
She really is a lovely dog and was a favourite of the kennel staff for the time she was at the rescue.  Please give this lovely girl the chance she deserves to show you how stunning she is.

17-05-17 UPDATE
Lovely Sausage is doing really well in her foster home and loves going for long walks. She is now running around freely with an longline on, and boy can she run! She would make a great agility/flyball dog, as she loves nothing more than running with our other Pugaliers. She will need at least one other active dog of similar size in her new home, and could live with older dog savvy children who are respectful of her. She is still nervous when people approach her indoors and will move out the way, however if you sit down, she will come over on her own accord and ask for chinny rubs. She prefers having her chin rubbed to have her head stroked, but we don't mind that. She is wary if people watch her when she eats and will go and stand outside or away from the food until the human is out the way.
She has come such a long way after a long time in kennels, and she so deserves her forever home now, where her people will be patient with her, will walk her often and she will eventually need to be allowed off lead. She is getting better walking on her lead & harness, but you need to have a gentle hand, as if too much contact is put on the lead, she tries to get away from it and circles. She is such a lovely girl & if we didn't have enough dogs already, she'd be staying, so don't miss out on this lovely girl.

03-10-17 UPDATE

Sausage has come so far in the time that she has been with us, although she is still wary of people she doesn't know initially. She is an energetic dog who once she has settled in her new home, will need at least an hours off lead walk a day. She isn't the sort of dog who would cope with a walk around the block. She is good with dog savvy children aged 10 years+, will chase cats, and will definitely need another young energetic dog to live with, as she loves playing with our resident Pugaliers. She doesn't like being left for long sadly and will not tolerate going in a crate. She is very loyal to 'her person' and loves to have cuddles on the sofa. She knows her name and is very good at coming when called. She still needs to learn things, but she has come so far already. If you think you can give this lovely girl a forever home, please apply soon!

15-01-18 UPDATE
Lovely Sausage needs an active home where somebody is around all of the time as she gets very upset at being left. She will chase cats and needs daily off lead walks, but in return she will give you lots of cuddles. She needs at least one other dog who will let her snuggle up to them.

23-03-18 UPDATE
Sausage continues to make progress with us and is such a loving dog.  Some friends visited us recently who knew her when we first got her in foster, and couldn’t believe it was the same dog.
She needs another active dog to live with and that dog will need to let her cuddle and wash them!  She loves her friends as you can see from this photo!

24-04-18 UPDATE

Sausage the lovely Pugalier is still looking for her forever home a year later! Yes we'd love to keep her, BUT she deserves to be somebody's Princess and get more attention which she craves.
She is house trained!
She walks well on a harness and when she trusts you, off lead she has brilliant recall.
She is good with children.
She will chase a running cat, but wouldn't hurt one.
She loves to have cuddles with her canine friends as well as her human ones, so will need another active/playful dog to live with.
Her only downside, is that she doesn't like being left more than 2 hours, so somebody who is home all the time or works from home etc would be ideal for her.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

The adoption fee for an adult dog (6 months and over) is £220 and for a puppy is £250, However if the dog has a passport you will be given this when you adopt and we ask for a further £20 to help us buy a passport for another dog. You will find a break down of what the adoption fee covers under our Adoption Procedures (see link below) If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
