12-12-17 Ruby is a cross breed who has come to use from truly appalling conditions in Romania. She has witnessed and experienced things no dog should see and she was saved by a Romanian rescue who have very little funds. Thanks to our wonderful supporters we were able to offer help to 28 of these dogs and so now Ruby is here to find a home for the first time in her life. She is a sweet girl but she doesn't know how to walk on a  lead and seems very sad. Ruby has a passport which says she is 3 years old so that is what we have put her as but we do feel she may be a little older than that. Please give her the chance to find love, safety and security for the first time. She will need a kind dog to teach her all about housetraining and be her friend.

19-01-18 UPDATE
Dear sweet Ruby , Ruby is so loving with humans , she will cover your face in kisses and loves to be cuddled bless her , can not believe how she still loves humans but she does- in fact adores them ! Ruby came here and loved her bed with the  fur lining and another fur blanket on top , you could see the delight as she gets in it , so pleased ! , she did find it strange and a little unsettling to be in a house all day  at first , as if she wondered why ? Now she's happy to be indoors especially if its raining outside bless her . We thought Ruby would like a dog friend to live with but we think now perhaps  she may prefer to be an only dog in the right circumstances, but she couldn't be left  alone for long periods as she would get stressed,  so if she's to be an only dog it will depend on your home circumstances and lifestyle . She can live  with cats too , we have two here . We think children would frighten her and she has not  met any here , however older children if dog savvy or visiting older children if dog savvy could be considered .
Ruby has scars on her back with a large circular patch on her back which is just skin no hair ( doubtful the hair will grow back ) then there's a line in her fur running down either side of her where again there's only skin but the hair covers those , we were told its down to burns , boiling water in fact , we do not know whether this was deliberate to chase her away or a horrific accident either way this poor baby has gone through a horrific time , the pain must of been unimaginable, she had a tiny bit on her back still open but it's  completely healed now , and we have been applying cream to stop the skin from drying out . The skin will need sunblock on it if her fur doesn't grow back or cover it and you need to take care she doesn't cut her back when out and about .
Ruby is very beautiful and very smart too so you will have to have a secure collie type garden to make sure she is safe , Ruby is clean in the house in fact she's very clean . Ruby  sleeps in her bed quietly all night .  She accepts a harness and will come with you out into the garden with one on , but needs to have access to quiet walks to build her confidence at first when she goods outside the garden ,   or  she could  get spooked by a noise and run so care HAS to be taken when she starts going out on walks . This beautiful girl is very special - not only because of  what she has gone through,  but because she is so sweet and loving after it all  . Ruby is a five star dog and needs a special home with an abundance of love , patience and kind hands .

20-02-18 UPDATE

Ruby has really settled to being a loved welL - an adored, pet dog not a stray ! She is a darling, sweet loving girl who could not love a human more if she tried it's wonderful, it feels amazing to be loved so much by her.
Ruby comes in from the garden when called (99% of the time!) sometimes she avoids your gaze and pretends she never heard you but when you call her again she comes! She sleeps quietly and happily all night until you get upin the morning then she stretches and licks you and saunters over to the door for you let her out.
Ruby has been assessed for a while now and we think she would be best homed with a male companion.  She is a street dog and they can be wary sometimes of other dogs and Ruby seems more wary of females but if a male pushed her out of the way or was bouncy around her she could still snap.  That said - after several months here she plays with our large male collie and will accept a very very - laid back male shih tzu to sleep by her for naps.
She sleeps alone overnight as would not like to be woken up in the night with a start and so she gets a lovely safe, quiet and uninterrupted nights sleep and she loves that so much so -she takes herself off to her own bed when she sees you getting ready for bed she's such a star!
She LOVES her fur lined bed and is so so happy to get in it , it makes us smile but sometimes sad that she's so happy with that small thing. Ruby is a darling dog who has been through such horror she needs a quiet home, not one with people coming and going who have a busy life.  A home with someone retired who still likes to go for walks or someone working from home who likes to go for quiet country walks is what's needed for this particular dog. A busy town life is unfortunately not going to be the right environment either as she would be too scared.  So if you think you have the right home for this brave, sweet  and special girl who has been through so much, please get in touch.

28-03-18 UPDATE

Well Ruby doo is still here and loving being a family member! She is such a sweet sweet girl you won't find another like her . Ruby still is a little unsure of new dogs for a few weeks and when she does give them trust - it would be a male before a female . It would be love!y to home her with a companion really, as she loves to play with dogs . Here she plays with a large stands offish collie and loves an old calm as can be male shih tzu - she does however play with the biggest dog here a female GSD! So I guess she makes her own mind up who to trust!  As the female big GSD girl is the calmest dog here apart from the shih tzu boy I guess her rader for calm dogs is spot on! But what about the Collie boy? Only Ruby knows!
Ruby is quiet in the house a real love to have around, gazing at you adoringly, following you everywhere whether you are in or out in the garden she just loves humans. Ruby is complete!y clean in the house and has been since day one. She is still nervous when away from home on walks but will probably get better when she knows a route, as we have previously said a more rural location will suit Ruby and a quiet household not a busy one with children or lots of coming and going . Ruby deserves a home where she will gently and quietly and slowly be shown the ropes in that particular home set up, so if you think that's you please apply !

12-05-18 UPDATE

Sweet sweet gorgeous Ruby is still waiting for the right home with the quiet easy going lifestyle to come along. Ruby does need someone who has bags of time to spend with her to gently, kindly and lovingly show her their lifestyle and let her see for herself she will NOT be punished or shouted at if she growls at the resident dog if they come near her when she's lying down sleeping for instance, it may be that she will not growl at her new companion as has learnt here strange dogs can be trusted not to hurt her, but understanding, patience and kindness need to be used IF she does.
Apart from her possible mistrust of new dogs she is a angel of a dog to have around. She is happy, TOTALLY loving, covering you in kisses whenever she's near,  you feel loved for sure!
Ruby is a very VERY special dog and if you are lucky enough to adopt her-  you too will feel and understand this.
Ruby is easy to live with only wanting to be with you and kiss you, a warm cosy bed and food !
She loves the garden and she needs a garden as she can relax in one and likes to potter out there with you, in fact that is her ideal  day ! If you have experience of dogs that have had a troubled life it would be useful for when she moves to her new home for her to settle but - more crucial for her  is a quiet life and location (not a town or city ) and definitely a quiet lifestyle, not lots of coming and goings , visitors or small children,   then Ruby would suit you as you would her , so apply and let's have a chat !

14-06-18 UPDATE
Ruby doo is still here looking for her forever family. She's a pretty girl and such a loyal, loving sweet dog, someone is going to be very lucky indeed to have her in their family. We absolutely adore this girl and if we were looking to adopt again she would have been adopted by us months ago . She doesn't want muc , just a walk  (and a nice garden to sit in when its sunny as she loves to have a spell in the sun now and then ) some food and lots and lots of cuddles,  and actual kisses which she then gives you back-  she's adorable ! Ruby is a good girl, sleeps quietly at night, and is 100%  housetrained, she  loves cats too all in all -  she's a fantastic dog !
