03-12-12 Harry was rescued by one of our supporters. He was free to anyone in a freecycle site. He was not castrated and had a skin problem. He also needed his rear pendulous dew claws removed. All of this has been addressed, but now he needs a home. He is a very sweet affectionate boy of just 1 year. He is a pug cross cavalier, which are both very gentle kind breeds. He is the size of a cav, and as sweet as both breeds.
Harry continues to make progress and is a pleasure to foster. He loves being with my other dogs and often bosses them around if they let him! He loves to play with my English Bull Terrier and also loves his cuddles, so another dog in the household is a must. He does interact with big dogs once he's got to know them, but can initially be wary of them. He doesn't bother with our cats unless they run in the garden and then only to play with them. He has perfect recall off lead and is a very bright little dog. He is also a very active dog. Please do not apply for him if you cannot give him at least two long off lead walks a day - short on lead walks will not wear this little chap out. He will still also require ongoing treatment for his skin condition, which will involve bathing him every few days and watching that he doesn't bite himself and cause problems.
......Harry has been with me for nearly 3 weeks and in this time I have fed him on a RAW diet. This has worked wonders on his bad skin and to keep his skin this way anyone adopting hime must be prepared to continue with this diet.. I have a lovely butcher nearby who I buy chicken carcasses off, mince them and then mix them with some veg and other meats or offal. If you cannot face doing this, you can buy ready made RAW food from online websites like this one http://www.naturalinstinct.com/
......Harry has proved to be a very energetic boy and today for example, I have taken him and one of my younger dogs on a 2hr off lead forest walk today, where he has run and played with 18 other dogs non stop. He needs a home where he will get lots of exercise daily, in all weathers! He also loves to snuggle up to one of our dogs when it's sleep time and for this reason, another resident dog that will allow him to do this, is a must. He will play for ages with my younger dog in the house, so again, a playful dog would be nice for him to live with.
......Please do not apply for Harry if you cannot continue with his special baths, feeding him RAW, giving him long walks and have a resident dog for him to play and snuggle with.
The adoption fee for a dog is £170 for a dog at the centre and £180 for one in foster. If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so.
