A Big Heart, A Fresh Start: Wellard's Ready for Home

Wellard is a gorgeous 2-year-old Bulldog who arrived at Many Tears from a breeder. After spending six long months waiting patiently in kennels, he’s now blossoming in a loving foster home, and what a transformation we’ve seen. This boy is ready to leave the past behind and start the next chapter of his life.

In his short time in foster, Wellard has revealed himself to be a gentle, affectionate soul with a huge heart. He’s currently living happily alongside two other dogs and has formed sweet friendships with them both. He enjoys playful moments but also adores calm companionship. Most of all, he’s shown that what he truly longs for is love. He’s a real snuggle-bug who melts into your arms, always ready to share a cuddle and look up at you with eyes full of hope.

Wellard had never lived in a home before foster care, but he’s doing his best to learn. His toilet training is coming along beautifully, with just the odd overnight accident. Like many dogs from a breeder background, he’ll need continued support with confidence building, house training, and lead walking, but he is so eager to please and deeply connected to his people.

This lovely boy would thrive in a calm home where someone is around for much of the day, as he finds real comfort in human company. He can live with calm, older children aged 12+, and he travels beautifully in the car too. He could be your sidekick for all of life’s quiet adventures, from morning walks to cosy evenings on the sofa.

Wellard does have a medical history of cherry eye in both eyes, which required surgery. While this has been treated more than once, the issue may return and will be considered a pre-existing condition, meaning it will not be covered by pet insurance. His eyes are currently doing well, but future adopters should be prepared for possible management and vet visits. Despite all this, Wellard remains the happiest, most loving lad you could hope to meet.

He’s been overlooked for far too long, and now he’s asking, with the quietest of looks, if you might be his forever.

If you have a Wellard-shaped space in your heart, he is waiting, tail wagging, ready to bring love and joy into your life.

Wellard's Diary

  • In just two short weeks in foster, Wellard has shown what a resilient and loving little soul he truly is. After what we can only imagine has been a rough start, he’s beginning to understand what it feels like to be safe, cared for and most of all loved.

Wellard is currently living peacefully with two other dogs and has struck up a sweet friendship with them both, sharing playtime and gentle companionship. He’s also made wonderful progress with his toilet training and is doing his very best, with just the occasional overnight accident.

But what Wellard wants more than anything is someone to love. He’s an affectionate snuggle-bug who melts into your arms, craving comfort and connection. He’s the kind of dog who looks at you with eyes full of hope, silently asking, “Are you my forever?”

He would thrive in a home where someone is around most of the day he just loves to be near his people. He can happily live with calm, older children (12+), and he's been a dream to travel with in the car.

If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who will repay your kindness a thousand times over, Wellard is waiting, heart open, tail wagging for the home he deserves.

  • Unfortunately Wellard has spent the last 5 months waiting in kennels for the loving home he deserves. We can’t quite understand why this wonderful boy hasn’t found his forever family yet.
He is extremely loving, affectionate and thrives on human attention. He also gets along well with other dogs. While he has the confidence to be an only dog, he may be a bit shy at first. Ideal adopters would be those who can spend most of their time with him, helping him adjust and feel secure in his new home. If you already have a resident dog/s, Wellard would fit right in, as he gets on well with all dogs that he meets.
All Wellard is asking for is a safe and loving home with a family to call his own.
Wellard can be homed with older, dog savvy teenagers who can appreciate his playful side, especially when he gets the zoomies and shows off his boisterous personality.
We truly hope this sweet boy won’t have to wait much longer for his chance at love and a forever home.

  • Wellard arrived to us back in October from a breeder, unfortunately since he’s been with us he’s had little to no interest which is such a shame as he is the perfect boy with the waggiest of tails!
He is very confident and absolutely loves everyone he meets, he gets on well with other dogs and just slots in to any kennel. He has the confidence to go as an only dog but when he is on his own he can sometimes become a lot more shy than when he is with another dog. We still think he would be ok to go as an only dog as he is very people focused and absolutely loves attention so some reassurance and time to settle in to a home he will be absolutely fine. He would really love to be able to snuggle with his humans and be taken out on lots of adventures and coffee dates! He will also be perfect for a family that already has dogs as he gets on well with all breeds and does love to snuggle up to his husky friend in this cold weather!
He is the perfect combination between calm and crazy, when he’s in the kennel just him and his kennel friend he spends his time cuddled up in bed with her but when he goes down the big yard his energetic side comes out. He absolutely loves playing fetch and despite being a bulldog could run for hours after the ball if you let him.
We cannot believe this perfect little man is still with us, if you have a bulldog shaped hole in your heart please think about Wellard

  • This bundle of crazy is Wellard! He is the happiest most bum wiggling bulldog you could ever meet.
Wellard is the type of boy you could put in any kennel and he will make friends. He’s had pals such as Husky’s, large cross breeds and other fellow bulldogs. He’s great with both male and female dogs and is happy to join any gang that is heading to the big play yard.
He absolutely loves a fuss! The more cuddles you give the more kisses you receive. He has such a cheeky side to him and is super playful, but in his kennel he is rather calm and loves to snuggle in his bed.
In the yard he loves to play fetch (if you can get the ball from him ?) and any toy he can get his paws on.
I took him for a health check at our vets to review his eye as sadly his cherry eye has reappeared. We will have an update shortly as to whether we will operate again or not.
Overall Wellard is the happiest of chaps who loves everyone and every dog. He’s playful and kind, full of energy but also the laziest of bums. There are so many words to describe this wonderful boy, he’s seen many of his friends and even his brother head to homes.
I just hope he doesn’t have to spend much longer in kennels

  • This cheeky boy is full of beans and is always looking for attention and love and will happily shower you in kisses!

Wellard is still a baby and will need some lovely adopters to help him learn the basics. He is currently harness training but is finding this very scary at times, but is happily encouraged by some treats or cheese! We took a trip to the big play yard and he thoroughly enjoyed being able to roll and run around taking in all the new smells and sights he hasn’t yet encountered in his life.

He LOVES his toys, or anything he can get his paws on, including the contents of my pockets, lanyard, hat you name it he’s managed to steal it!

He very happily shares his toys with his kennel friend.

For a bulldog, Wellard is very active and would like to be able to explore and have lots of fun with his new family; and not that he means it but has picked up the bad habit of mouthing as he’s never been taught not to and with some training and growing up he will grow out of this, but for this reason we wouldn’t suggest any children in the household.

Wellard would love a friendly companion in the household or with the right adopters he can be an only dog

  • Meet Wellard, a spirited, lively young doggy who has come to us from a breeder. He’s full of confidence and has energy to spare, making him a wonderful companion for an active household. Wellard can either be the only dog in the home due to his bags of confidence or he’d be completely comfortable living with other resident dogs! Since he hasn’t experienced life in a home before, he’ll need a patient owner who can guide him through learning essentials like house training and walking on a lead. Wellard wouldn’t mind having some dog experienced teenagers as friends who can care for him and match his bouncy happy vibe. Wellard arrived with two cherry eyes, but thanks to our dedicated vet team, his eyes are doing great! His coat, which also was a bit patchy when he first came to us, is looking much better and continues to improve with care. This playful, bouncy boy is ready to find an active family who can match his enthusiasm and provide the love and attention he deserves.

  • Wellard is a fantastic and energetic boy who has come to us from a breeder. He is super confident and energetic and could be homed as the only dog in the home, or with a resident dog or dogs as a companion. Since Wellard has not lived in a home, he will need an understanding owner to help teach him all about home life and skills such as house training and how to walk on a lead. Wellard will need a home without children as although he has a heart of gold he is very bouncy and strong and can mouth when he is over excited so needs an adopter who is able to handle this and help him move forwards. Wellard came to us with two cherry eyes but have been repaired by our amazing vet team whom will keep an eye on his speedy recovery! Wellard does have patchy fur, but this will be assessed by the vet but we are hopeful this will grow back. Wellard is a super energtic and bouncy boy that is looking for an active home to keep up with him and provide him with attention and care!

Can live with other dogs
