Sarah-Rose is a very special girl who came to us from a breeder in Ireland in search of a forever home filled with patience, understanding, and quiet love. Her life before rescue was one of confinement and uncertainty, and while she has come a long way since arriving in foster care, she’s still learning what it means to be safe and loved.

At first, everything was overwhelming for Sarah-Rose. She froze when approached, often needing to be carried if she was too frightened to move. But slowly and surely, she is beginning to show us who she truly is beneath the fear, that she is a dog with a gentle heart, a wagging tail, and a growing curiosity about the world around her.

She now moves freely between the house and the garden and has begun to seek out affection, gently nudging for strokes and enjoying grooming sessions. Her love of food is starting to show and is much more confident at mealtimes.

Sarah-Rose still startles at loud noises or sudden movements, and she’s not ready for walks just yet, though she is now working on harness training and is taking it on in stride. Her foster home is gently working with her on this, and while it will take time, she continues to make progress at her own pace.

She sleeps peacefully through the night, is clean in the house, and toilets in the garden. She is gaining confidence as long as a furry companion is around and has been known to be left for a few hours without any issues. Sarah-Rose finds great comfort in the company of other dogs and must have a kind, confident resident dog to guide and support her. She’s also cat-friendly and respectful of their space.

Medically, she shows occasional lameness in her front left leg, which is being monitored and may improve with time and muscle development, though it may require future treatment. She also has two fractured teeth that may need attention down the line.

Sarah-Rose has already made wonderful progress, and in the right home, she is calm, quiet, and full of love, and we just know that in her forever home she will continue to flourish. She needs someone who sees not just the timid girl she is today, but the joyful, trusting companion she is slowly becoming. If you have the time, patience, and heart to help Sarah-Rose on her journey, she will reward you with loyalty, love, and the quiet joy of watching a truly special dog learn to live.

Sarah Rose's Diary

  • I’ve been here for four weeks now, and I’m making steady progress.

I come into the house on my own and return from the garden comfortably. I absolutely love being stroked and will even try to nudge the others out of the way for attention! I enjoy being groomed and often ask for more. I take treats gently and have started enjoying apple, carrots, and dental sticks. Mealtimes are going well, I eat happily from my bowl.

I’m wearing my harness and will walk around the garden in it. I love playing ball and enjoy a bit of playtime with one of my housemates too. I’ve even shown a cheeky side, if you eat from your lap, I might try to sneak a bite off your plate!

I’m settling well into the house and garden, but I still get startled by sudden noises or movements. I’m not ready to walk on the lead just yet, but my foster mum is gently practicing with me. It may take some time before I’m ready for proper walks.

When new people come into the house, I do get nervous and run to my safe space, but I don’t completely hide away, which is a step forward. I always go to the toilet in the garden and sleep soundly through the night.

I don’t like being left alone and will bark if left by myself. I’m much more settled if someone stays with me, so I may do best in a home with a couple or someone who is around most of the time, at least until I’m more confident.

I’m doing well and learning every day, but I still need a quiet environment and a patient family. My tail wags, and I’m eager to be part of a loving home. If you have the time and patience, I’ll reward you with loyalty, cuddles, and playful fun.

  • This week has brought some small but positive steps forward. I will now come into the house and enjoy being groomed and stroked, though I still get scared and run at sudden movements or loud noises. I’ve started walking a few steps in my harness, but I’m still not comfortable moving with a lead attached to either the harness or collar.

I’m clean in the house and can be left for a few hours as long as I have a companion. I get along well with other dogs and cats, and I’m very well-behaved at mealtimes, even around other dogs.

I sleep through the night and especially enjoy a gentle groom and stroke. I would thrive in a quiet home with a calm, patient family. A home without children would be best, as too much activity can overwhelm me.

I wag my tail and am so eager to be loved, I just need a little more time to learn that people can be trusted.

  • Hi there!

I’ve had a busy week with lots of little achievements. I now happily come into the house and move freely between indoors and the garden. I love chasing a ball, though I won’t bring it back just yet; I prefer to take it to my bed! I’ve also started collecting slippers, which I think makes a lovely hobby.

I’ve had a few grooms in the garden and quite enjoy getting rid of all that extra fur. I’ll come to you for a stroke, though I still get nervous if someone approaches me too quickly. Sausages are definitely the way to my heart, I can sometimes be persuaded to come closer if there’s one on offer! I take treats gently and am learning to trust more each day.

Loud noises and sudden movements still unsettle me, but I’m improving gradually. I'm becoming more relaxed in my surroundings, though I'm not ready to try walking on a lead just yet. I’m clean in the house, eating well, and I absolutely love being with the other dogs, I've even started playing with one of them!

If you have a quiet, calm home and the patience to help me continue to grow, I hope to meet you soon.

  • Foster mum is very quietly excited, today I found the courage to venture into the main living area of the house! Not only that, but I'm now sitting right next to FM!

  • I’ve been in my foster home for a week now, and while progress is slow, I’m taking small steps every day.

I’m still not ready to come into the house, and I prefer to eat when no one is watching. If you approach gently, I’ll allow a little stroke, especially when I don’t have the option to run away but I’ll lick my lips to show I’m still unsure. Loud noises and sudden movements make me nervous, so a calm, quiet home would be best.

I’ll wear a harness, but my tail tucks right under and I’m not confident enough to walk on the lead just yet. I even tried to climb the fence on Sunday, so a secure garden is a must!

Despite my fears, I’m a beautiful girl with a gentle soul. With patience, love, and time, I know I’ll learn to trust and truly blossom. Could you be the one to help me bloom?

Here’s what I can do so far:

    • I travel well in the car

    • I’m clean in the dog room (though I haven’t ventured inside the house yet)

    • I now sleep on a comfy blanket

    • I’ll eat from a bowl if no one’s watching

    • I’ll accept a short stroke when I feel safe

    • I’ll wear a harness, though I’m not ready for walks

    • I’m fine with the cat

    • I enjoy spending time in the garden—but I’m still not ready to come back inside

    • I get along well with other dogs

  • Hi. I am a very special girl and need an equally special family and home. I am petrified of everything. So please only read on if you have patience, time and love to give. I require a quiet home. No children, no loud noises or quick movements. I travelled well in the car but had to be carried out. I freeze to the floor when anything happens so you may have to lift me if I just am too frightened to do as you ask. I improve when the other dogs come round but am not following them, I just freeze. I am quiet through the night but lie on the floor even with a blanket and bed beside me. I only take treats when not too frightened. I don't eat my food in one go coming and going to the bowl nervously so need feeding separately.

You can stroke me when I am frozen but I have fear in my eyes so just little strokes until I get used to it. You can only get near me when the other dogs are there or if I am frozen otherwise I run as soon as you move, which can make life challenging when trying to get me in. I pee and poop in the garden. I have not had a lead on or been for a walk that will be too much, and impossible at the moment. I had to be carried in to the house otherwise I would have stayed outside all night. All the doors are open, sometimes I will step in, other times not. I have not been fully in the house yet. I am good with the other dogs and the cat. I don't mind men or women when I am not running away, I am just frightened of everyone! I am a beautiful soul who needs time to realise life can be a comfy bed, nice food and loving people.

If you have all the time in the world and are not expecting a quick fix, then I would love to see you. You will need to be a person who gets excited internally if I put a foot in the room, and cries if I approach you for a stroke rather than running from you. If I ever learn to trust however small you will be ecstatic. If you are not that kind of person, I am not for you. I have the potential to be the most beautiful loving girl in the right environment. You will require a safe garden not too big or in sections otherwise you may not see me if I run. I have to learn slowly and quietly about life in the big world.

  • Sarah Rose is a very pretty girl who has come to us from a breeder to find her forever home. She’s feeling quite overwhelmed by all the changes in her life and is especially worried when away from her kennel friends, so she will be looking for a home where there is another kind and confident resident dog in her new home to help guide her and take her under their wing.

Sarah Rose hasn’t lived in a home before, so everything will be new to her. She will need a calm and quiet home and adopters who are kind and understanding as she learns all about house training and all the sights and sounds of family life. She doesn’t walk on a lead yet, but once she’s gained confidence, we feel she would really enjoy and benefit from an active home where she can stretch her legs and explore.

She is currently carrying a little extra weight, so gentle exercise, good nutrition and a loving routine will help her get fitter and healthier over time. Sarah Rose is a shy girl, but with time, patience, and lots of love, we know she will blossom into a devoted and happy companion.

If you have the kind heart and calm home she needs, Sarah Rose will be forever grateful. She has a travel document.
