A Shy, Beautiful Soul Waiting for Her Safe Place

Sarah-Rose is a very special 5-year-old ex-breeding girl who has arrived with us from Ireland to find her forever home. She arrived with her documentation and has already taken her first brave steps into a whole new world.

Sarah-Rose had never lived in a home before moving into foster, and everything is overwhelming for her at the moment. She is a deeply sensitive and frightened girl who freezes when approached and often needs to be carried if she is too scared to move. She will need an exceptionally quiet, patient, and understanding home where there are no children, no loud noises, and no sudden movements.

She finds comfort in the presence of other dogs and will absolutely need a kind and confident resident dog in her new home to help her build trust and learn from their calm example. Although she is not yet following their lead, having doggy companions close by gives her a little more courage. She is also good with cats.

Sarah-Rose is not ready to walk on a lead yet, she even struggles to enter the house fully at first, choosing instead to hover near open doors and step in only when she feels safe enough. She will need adopters who are willing to celebrate every tiny moment of progress, like the first time she steps into a room or accepts a gentle stroke.

At the moment, Sarah-Rose will lie quietly through the night but may stay frozen in one spot rather than curling up in a bed. She eats very nervously, so is fed her meals separately, and only takes treats when she is feeling a little less overwhelmed. She is toileting in the garden, which is a positive sign, but she will require a very secure and safely enclosed outdoor space, ideally smaller or sectioned, so she cannot slip away if she panics.

Sarah-Rose is carrying a little extra weight, but gentle encouragement, good nutrition, and a steady, loving routine will help her grow fitter and stronger over time. More importantly, she needs adopters who will give her as much time as she needs without pressure or expectation, and who will find joy in her smallest achievements.

This beautiful girl has so much potential and will blossom into a loving companion in the right home. She simply needs someone who sees her not for where she is today, but for the incredible dog she could become with love, patience, and trust.

If you have the heart, time, and home to offer Sarah-Rose the safety and quiet love she needs, she will one day be your greatest reward.

Sarah Rose's Diary

  • I’ve been in my foster home for a week now, and while progress is slow, I’m taking small steps every day.

I’m still not ready to come into the house, and I prefer to eat when no one is watching. If you approach gently, I’ll allow a little stroke, especially when I don’t have the option to run away but I’ll lick my lips to show I’m still unsure. Loud noises and sudden movements make me nervous, so a calm, quiet home would be best.

I’ll wear a harness, but my tail tucks right under and I’m not confident enough to walk on the lead just yet. I even tried to climb the fence on Sunday, so a secure garden is a must!

Despite my fears, I’m a beautiful girl with a gentle soul. With patience, love, and time, I know I’ll learn to trust and truly blossom. Could you be the one to help me bloom?

Here’s what I can do so far:

    • I travel well in the car

    • I’m clean in the dog room (though I haven’t ventured inside the house yet)

    • I now sleep on a comfy blanket

    • I’ll eat from a bowl if no one’s watching

    • I’ll accept a short stroke when I feel safe

    • I’ll wear a harness, though I’m not ready for walks

    • I’m fine with the cat

    • I enjoy spending time in the garden—but I’m still not ready to come back inside

    • I get along well with other dogs

  • Hi. I am a very special girl and need an equally special family and home. I am petrified of everything. So please only read on if you have patience, time and love to give. I require a quiet home. No children, no loud noises or quick movements. I travelled well in the car but had to be carried out. I freeze to the floor when anything happens so you may have to lift me if I just am too frightened to do as you ask. I improve when the other dogs come round but am not following them, I just freeze. I am quiet through the night but lie on the floor even with a blanket and bed beside me. I only take treats when not too frightened. I don't eat my food in one go coming and going to the bowl nervously so need feeding separately.

You can stroke me when I am frozen but I have fear in my eyes so just little strokes until I get used to it. You can only get near me when the other dogs are there or if I am frozen otherwise I run as soon as you move, which can make life challenging when trying to get me in. I pee and poop in the garden. I have not had a lead on or been for a walk that will be too much, and impossible at the moment. I had to be carried in to the house otherwise I would have stayed outside all night. All the doors are open, sometimes I will step in, other times not. I have not been fully in the house yet. I am good with the other dogs and the cat. I don't mind men or women when I am not running away, I am just frightened of everyone! I am a beautiful soul who needs time to realise life can be a comfy bed, nice food and loving people.

If you have all the time in the world and are not expecting a quick fix, then I would love to see you. You will need to be a person who gets excited internally if I put a foot in the room, and cries if I approach you for a stroke rather than running from you. If I ever learn to trust however small you will be ecstatic. If you are not that kind of person, I am not for you. I have the potential to be the most beautiful loving girl in the right environment. You will require a safe garden not too big or in sections otherwise you may not see me if I run. I have to learn slowly and quietly about life in the big world.

  • Sarah Rose is a very pretty girl who has come to us from a breeder to find her forever home. She’s feeling quite overwhelmed by all the changes in her life and is especially worried when away from her kennel friends, so she will be looking for a home where there is another kind and confident resident dog in her new home to help guide her and take her under their wing.

Sarah Rose hasn’t lived in a home before, so everything will be new to her. She will need a calm and quiet home and adopters who are kind and understanding as she learns all about house training and all the sights and sounds of family life. She doesn’t walk on a lead yet, but once she’s gained confidence, we feel she would really enjoy and benefit from an active home where she can stretch her legs and explore.

She is currently carrying a little extra weight, so gentle exercise, good nutrition and a loving routine will help her get fitter and healthier over time. Sarah Rose is a shy girl, but with time, patience, and lots of love, we know she will blossom into a devoted and happy companion.

If you have the kind heart and calm home she needs, Sarah Rose will be forever grateful. She has a travel document.
