  • Human family requirements

I need a quiet home where I won’t be overwhelmed while I settle in at my own pace.

  • Other pet requirements

I need a resident dog to help me feel safe but I haven’t met cats yet so I'm not sure

  • House and garden requirements

I’m still shy, so I will need a secure garden while I get used to my new home.

  • Out and about requirements

I'm still getting used to my new life so a secure garden for me to explore is ideal.

  • Training needs

Please be patient with me, I'm nervous and learning everything from scratch.

  • Medical issues

I have an underbite but that doesn't stop me from being the most handsome little chap

09-05-25 Arkle is a worried little soul who has come to us from a breeder and is now beginning his journey to learn all about the world beyond the kennel walls. He is very shy around people and will try to run away when approached, as human hands are still a little too scary for him right now. However, once he’s gently caught, Arkle is easy to handle he just doesn’t yet understand that love and kindness can come from people too.

He also happens to have a little underbite, which only adds to his charm, we think he’s absolutely handsome, just the way he is.

What Arkle does understand and adore is the company of other dogs. He finds a great deal of comfort and confidence in the presence of his canine companions, so he will absolutely need at least one kind and friendly resident dog in his new home to help guide him and show him the ropes.

As Arkle is still very unsure of the outside world, things like house training and walking on a lead will be completely new to him. His new family will need to be patient and understanding, giving him the time and space he needs to grow in confidence at his own pace. For now, short sniffy times in a secure garden may be more manageable than walks in the wider world.

Arkle is looking for a quiet, calm home with experienced adopters who understand nervous dogs and are committed to helping him flourish. With time, reassurance, and the guidance of his doggy friends, we’re sure he’ll begin to shine.

Arkle has been given the Gift of Life by Jenny Lee Kench
