I am ready for my forever home!

13-05-25 Oreo came to us as an unsold puppy at just 5 months old, and although he was adopted, things didn’t work out for him due to some behavioural issues. He was very reactive on his lead and would lunge at cars while out walking. This resulted in him being passed on to another rescue, but when they weren’t able to provide the right support, he came back to us. Now, Oreo is ready to find the perfect home where he can thrive.

At his core, Oreo is obedient and listens incredibly well to the right trainer. He needs a firm but fair owner who is experienced with reactive dogs. If Oreo is allowed to take charge, he’ll try to train you himself, but once he knows you’re in charge, he behaves wonderfully. His response to training is exceptional when given clear, consistent boundaries.

We’ve been slowly introducing Oreo to other dogs, and so far, he’s been absolutely fantastic with them! However, Oreo is looking for an only dog home, where the training can be focused entirely on him. This will give him the structure and attention he needs. That said, if the right home comes along with adopters who are experienced in working with behavioural issues and are willing to put in the time and effort, we would consider a home with a resident dog, as long as the introduction is handled carefully and patiently.

Oreo walks on a lead and has been known to climb, so his new home will need to have a tall fence to ensure he remains secure. He will also need an adult-only home, where his new family can provide the firm but fair guidance he needs. While Oreo has lived in a house before, he may be house trained, but could have a few accidents as he settles into his new surroundings.

Oreo is full of life, energy, and love! He needs a lot of exercise to keep him happy and healthy, and his recall is fantastic, especially if there’s a tasty treat involved! He’s also super friendly and wants to greet everyone with enthusiasm.

If you’re looking for a dog who will bring a whole lot of fun and laughter into your life and you have experience working with dogs who have behavioural challenges, Oreo could be your perfect match. He’s ready to be your one-and-only companion and is looking for a dedicated owner to help him become the best dog he can be.
