20-05-25 Darling Nika has come to us from a breeder to find a very special home, one just as special as she is. She is an older girl who arrived in a very sorry state and has already completely stolen our hearts. It’s clear she has been through so much in her life, and she so deserves to spend however long she has left surrounded by love and kindness and being truly adored.

Nika has arrived with several health concerns and is currently being closely monitored by our vets. She has a heart murmur, an enlarged left atrium, and mitral and tricuspid valvular defects for which she has now started medication. She also has some breathing difficulties, which are likely linked to her heart condition. She walks with an abnormal gait, which may be caused by scoliosis. Nika is missing most of her teeth, has patchy fur and is being treated for an ear infection and dry eye. Our vets feel that she will sadly be looking for a palliative care home. We hope that with love and TLC she has many more months ahead of her, but we cannot be sure what the future may hold for her. All we can be sure of is that we will do our best to find her the most perfect home filled with so much love.

Despite everything she is facing, Nika remains gentle and trusting, and she is so deserving of a calm, quiet home where she can be cherished. Her ideal adopters will be kind, understanding, and committed to giving her the very best care for however long she needs it.

Nika is a quiet and sensitive soul who is understandably overwhelmed to find herself here. While she doesn’t yet have the confidence to approach people, she is happy to be gently scooped up and will relax in your arms with a soft fuss and soothing words. There is such a sweetness to her, and we know that in the right home, she will begin to let her sweet soul shine through.

She finds great comfort in the company of other dogs and will need to be homed with at least one kind and confident resident dog who can take her under their wing and help her feel safe.

Nika has never lived in a home before, so she will need patient adopters who can help her gently adjust to all the new sights, sounds, and routines of home life. She will need to learn new skills like house training and walking on a lead – all of which will come in time, with patience and love.
