Buddy

04-06-25 Meet Buddy - Your New Best Friend in a Basset Suit! Buddy has come to us from a breeder to find his forever home and he is an irresistibly lovable boy who’s always thrilled to see you and never turns down the chance for an adventure. Whether it’s a stroll along the beach or a quick sniff around the block, Buddy walks with that classic Basset style - nose to the ground, tail wagging, soaking up every scent he can find.
He’s a social butterfly who gets along beautifully with other dogs, both male and female, and has even been known to share his bed with his kennel pals. Sometimes he’ll join in on the fun with a burst of playful energy, and other times he’s content to snooze while the chaos unfolds around him. Buddy could happily live with another friendly dog or he could be homed as an only dog in the right circumstances.
On one occasion, Buddy did get a little protective over a collar he found in the play yard, but it passed quickly, and he was back to sharing toys like a gentleman in no time. He’s generally very good-natured and happy to share.
When it comes to walks, Buddy’s excitement can make him a bit strong on the lead, especially at the start, so he’ll need adopters who are confident and able to manage his enthusiasm.
Because he can be a bit excitable, especially around food, Buddy is looking for an adult only home where he can have the structure and calm he needs to thrive.
One thing to be aware of: Buddy can be quite worried about formal handling andr vet visits, particularly injections. He did become quite stressed during his recent inoculation, but with a muzzle and a little patience, he got through it, but future adopters should be prepared to take it slow and steady when it comes to vet care.
That said, Buddy is an affectionate, happy soul who will let you shower him with love and cuddles until the sun goes down. He’s ready to be someone’s best friend - could that be you?
Can live with other dogs
