Arcadia

05-06-25 Acardia is a clever and spirited Cockapoo who came to us from a breeder and was briefly adopted. Unfortunately, she was returned after displaying challenging behaviours in the home, including resource guarding and nipping when she felt overwhelmed or threatened. While these behaviours are manageable with the right experience and environment, they do mean Acardia needs a home that can offer clear boundaries, patience, and structure.
She can be incredibly affectionate, greeting those she trusts with tail wags and enthusiasm. Acardia enjoys human interaction on her own terms and thrives when given space to build relationships at her own pace. She also loves to show off her smarts—she knows commands like sit, paw, and lie down, and she walks beautifully on a lead. We believe she may have lived in a home previously.
Acardia can be sensitive to formal handling and will give warning signs when she’s uncomfortable. She has also shown resource guarding around food and possessions, both here and in her previous home, so careful management and a calm, experienced handler are essential. Because of this, she will need an adult-only home with no visiting children and adopters who are familiar with these behaviours and committed to working with her positively.
She would be happy as the only dog or could live with another calm, tolerant dog, with slow and respectful introductions.
With the right support, Acardia has the potential to be a loyal and loving companion. She’s a bright girl who needs someone to advocate for her needs and help her feel safe. In the right home, she truly has the chance to thrive.
