I need an adult-only home with no visiting kids to keep me stress-free.

I would like to live with a male dog who is larger than me.

I’d enjoy one or two quiet walks a day and plenty of cuddle time.

  • Training needs

I have displayed some signs of guarding and will need adopters who can manage this.

  • Medical issues

I’m fully vaccinated and spayed, ready for my forever home!

Poor Vanna... this sweet, soulful little Cocker Spaniel has watched so many of her kennel friends leave for their forever homes, but she is still waiting. She has been with us far longer than we ever expected, and although she tries her best to stay cheerful, it’s clear her heart aches for a family of her own.

Vanna came to us from a breeder and has already known the heartbreak of being adopted and returned. When she first arrived, she was unsure and overwhelmed, but over time, she has blossomed into a loving, loyal girl for those she knows and trusts. She greets familiar faces with waggy tails, excited kisses, and the biggest cuddle as if to say, “I remember you, I love you.”

She’s a gentle soul who adores her walks and will trot along beside you, tail high, nose sniffing the air. She’s shared kennels and companionship with several male dogs, always kind and respectful and she truly lights up in the company of a calm, friendly boy. She will need to live with at least one larger male dog in her new home to help her feel settled and secure.

Vanna has made incredible progress with us. She still guards high-value items occasionally, but with firm, kind guidance she responds well and trusts her carers. There are far more challenging dogs who find homes quickly but for some reason, Vanna continues to be overlooked.

She is looking for an adult-only home with no visiting children, and adopters who understand that love and trust can take time to grow. But once that bond is there, Vanna will be your shadow, your best friend, your everything.

We’ve seen the real Vanna, the goofy, playful, affectionate girl she is when she feels safe. We know the right home is out there somewhere. We just hope they find her soon. She’s waited long enough.

Vanna's Diary

  • There are some dogs that really don't have the best luck when it comes to finding their forever home and sadly, Vanna is one of those unfortunate souls. I've worked with Vanna for several months now and in that time I've come to know her really well, she trusts me and loves seeing me every morning, I get the best cuddles and kisses just for walking in to her kennel, but with new people she is worried and does take a while to build that bond with you. She goes walking with volunteers and she is such a good girl to walk, pulls a little bit to start just because she is excited, but soon settles and walks lovely. She has been kennelled with a few male cocker spaniels during her time with us and one male lab x and she is very good with them. Shares a bed, shares a fuss, has treats with them. Sadly for her, she's had to wave off every friend as they leave for their forever home but she stays, waiting for people to choose her.

We feed her separately from other dogs, she can be a bit grumbly if a dog tries to steal her tennis ball and she did guard an antler (very high value) from a kennel friend but I only had to tell her no and she let me take it away from her with no problem. There are far more "problematic" dogs that get chosen quickly, but this beautiful girl is just over-looked time and time again.

Vanna is looking for a home with a resident male dog, as although she is socialised with ALL different dogs here, male and female, from tiny poodles to big Dogue De Bordeauxs, we feel we will be setting her up for success by homing her with one (or possibly two) male dogs.

She has recently had a summer groom and is more than ready to start her life, enjoying adventures with her people who love and adore her, just like we do here at the rescue.

Can you change her life for the better and commit to spending her life with her?

I so desperately want to wave her off to her biggest adventure yet, she is so deserving of every bit of wonderful this world has to offer.

  • Meet Vanna – A Loyal and Loving Companion Waiting for Her Perfect Match

Vanna is a beautiful, affectionate, and playful Cocker Spaniel who is looking for a special adopter to call her own. She absolutely loves cuddles, playing fetch, and going for walks, where her excitement quickly settles into a lovely, loose-lead stroll. Vanna has come such a long way since arriving at the rescue, and everyone who meets her falls in love with her sweet and funny personality.

Vanna originally came to us from a breeder and was adopted but sadly returned as she began displaying some signs of guarding within the home and her adopter didn't feel able to manage this. For this reason she will be looking for an adult only home with no visiting children and would like adopters who have experience with dogs with similar issues.

Vanna thrives on attention but would like another dog in her new home to be her friend and playmate. She would need this dog to be a male dog who was larger than her as she wouldn't like to share her home with female or smaller dogs. Vanna was very weary around men in her adopted home, but we have been working with her at the rescue and she is fine with our male kennel staff. She needs a patient and experienced owner who can manage her guarding behaviors with confidence and kindness. Once she trusts you, Vanna will be your most devoted companion, always by your side and ready to shower you with love.

She’s looking for a home where she can be the center of attention and finally feel safe and secure. If you have a quiet, experienced home and are ready to give Vanna the love and understanding she needs, she will reward you with unwavering loyalty and endless affection. Could you be the one to give Vanna the second chance she deserves?
