A Heart Full of Love: Bunny's Beautiful Journey
Meet Bunny, a 3-year-old crossbreed who came to us from Ukraine after losing her home and family due to the war. Thanks to the wonderful charity War Paws, Bunny was rescued from the streets and given a second chance at life. In August 2024, she made her way to Many Tears in the hope of finding the loving family she so deserves.
Bunny is an incredibly gentle and affectionate girl who has won the hearts of everyone at the rescue. She’s been through so much and has spent most of her young life in kennels, but her capacity to love and trust is nothing short of remarkable. Although she can be shy and unsure around new people, especially men, it doesn’t take long for Bunny to open up. Once you’ve earned her trust, she will greet you with her waggy tail, give you cuddles, and gently nudge you for belly rubs.
Kennels are a hard place for a dog like Bunny, and her true personality shines when she’s given calm, one-on-one time. She’s been making steady progress, learning to walk beautifully on the lead, travel calmly in the car, and even meet new people with increasing confidence. A recent day out to the beach and country park showed just how far she has come—Bunny was amazing throughout and loved every moment of her adventure.
Bunny will need a quiet, understanding home with adopters who have the time and patience to let her settle at her own pace. She is still wary of sudden movements and loud noises, so a calm environment is essential. She may be best suited to a home with older teenagers who are dog-savvy and can respect her boundaries.
Bunny has shown that she thrives around larger, confident male dogs and will need a resident dog to guide and comfort her, although in the right home where someone is around most of the time, she could potentially be an only dog. She can also live with cats.
Bunny comes with her passport and full travel documentation. She has tested negative for a full panel of diseases including Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis, Babesia, Borrelia, and Canine Brucellosis.
After all she has been through, Bunny is more than ready for the love and stability of a forever home. She truly is one in a million, and if you take the time to see past her initial nerves, you'll find the most loyal, loving companion you could ever hope for.
If you think you could be Bunny’s special someone, please come and meet her, you might just be the one she’s been waiting for.

Meet Bunny our brave, beautiful girl who came to us all the way from Ukraine last year. She’s one of the last from that group still waiting for her happily ever after, and we just don’t understand why. Her loving nature, courage, and quirky personality have captured all our hearts.
So, her kennel mum decided Bunny deserved a special treat, a day out of the kennels and into the sunshine! They headed to the beach and then a bustling country park during half term. Bunny was nothing short of amazing:
Walked past dogs with no issues
Walked beautifully on lead
Met and welcomed fuss from strangers
Travelled calmly in the car
Loved every second of her adventure
Her kennel mum shares:
“I cannot put into words how much I love Bunny. She has shown such trust despite everything she’s been through. I’m so proud of how far she’s come, she really is perfect and deserves the best home. She will make a wonderful companion and will really fill your heart with joy”
We hope Bunny’s stay with us isn’t much longer, but if it is, we’ll continue to love her and remind her every day that she is worthy of love and that the right home will find her, no matter how long it takes.

I have been working with Bunny for a while now and to say she’s more than ready for home comforts and to have a family to call her own is an understatement. Don’t get me wrong Bunny will be reserved initally and is still frightened of sudden/loud movements or noises but with time and care it really doesn’t take her long.
I have been taking Bunny out of kennels on my lunch break and taking her down to meet other staff members she hasn’t met before and she honestly was the bestest girl, she greeted everyone and sniffed their hands which is a big step for her. She even let some members of the public stroke her… I was soo proud of her.
Kennels definitely doesn’t do this girl any favours, and seeing how she is outside of the kennel she’s like a completely different dog.
I know we say this about a lot of dogs ‘I don’t understand why he/she is still here’ but honestly I really can’t understand why Bunny is. She’s beautiful, walks lead lovely, loves you with her whole heart and she really does make you smile every day!

Bunny bun bunnsssss (as I call her). Bunny has been with us since August last year after she lost her home and family due to the war in Ukraine and is still waiting patiently for her forever home here with us at the rescue. A lot of us here cannot understand why she’s still here!! She’s loved by so many. When Bunny knows you, she is such a kind hearted, comical and beautiful girl. Bunny can be shy and unsure of new people. However, once she gets to know you it’s the best feeling ever getting that trust and love from her, she really has so much to give. Some may of seen her on our show around and you’ll see her barking at the front of the kennel - please don’t be put off by this. She’s nervous of new people and wondering why so many people are there. However, it doesn’t take her long to settle and to feel comfortable around you. She really does have the best personality and makes me laugh every day! She runs up to me with the waggiest of bums and puts her two front paws on me for a cuddle and some belly rubs. It breaks my heart knowing she once had a home to call her own and a loving family that out of her control was sadly lost. Having had a home before and knowing what it’s like to now being in a kennel must be soo hard and confusing for her. Bunny needs: A kind male resident dog, Quiet environment (as loud noises and sudden movements still spooke her) Older children (if any) who understand her background, can give her space and have had dogs before & Just all the patience and love she deserves I really wish people could just see what I see in her because she really is one in a million and is loved by so many members off staff here! Please take a look at her profile and give my bunny bun bunssssss a chance.

Today I get the joy of writing about this beautiful girl and honestly what a pleasure she is ! We’ve decided with the terribly wet weather that the heat lamp and warm bedding was our choice of location to unwind. Being super busy here at the rescue it’s hard to appreciate just how much the dogs really enjoy some quality time with us humans and what better way to do this than avoiding the showers and cuddling up! The pictures say it all when it comes to Bunny, she really does love a good unwind and will easily fall asleep in your arms and make the most of it. Bunny is a sweet girl and doesn’t mind sharing the fuss with her handsome kennel friend Orpheus either, what else can I really say about this delightful dog ,other than what are you even waiting for get that application in and help Bunny finally spend a Christmas surrounded by love and a roof over her head- because as wonderful as these kennels and staff are, it's about time she finds out what a real life is like.

War Paws are a wonderful charity that helps dogs that would otherwise be destitute, starving, maltreated or worse. We really can't comprehend what our beautiful Bunny has been through. Bunny was rescued from the Ukraine. When I first met her she was unsure of me, especially being male, but she had a lovely kennel mate and as soon as she realises I was dishing out oodles of love and cuddles, she began to come around and make her way towards me. Don't get me wrong, any sudden movements or noises and she still gets spooked easily, but I always reassure her and she seems to trust me. Bunny has been with several dogs now and we have had no trouble at all. Her latest kennel mate got moved and she is currently by herself. As in the other updates, she is the sweetest girl and loves being out for a walk or bouncing around in the play yard. She definitely needs more motivation and exercise to give her a fulfilling life and happiness. Bunny will need another confident dog in the house to teach her and to buddy up with and learn from. Dog savvy, understanding teens will be ok, but not younger, it will be way too much for her. Bunny is a gentle soul and already very loving. Just bare in mind it's not instant when you meet her, but within half an hour she is letting you pet her and comes for a little lick or a sniff of her new friend. If your experienced with dogs that need that extra security, love and kindness then Bunny could be for you. She will absolutely blossom in the right home. Long walks and lots of fun and learning for her. As always read the previous updates, lots of info from other handlers and info on particular testing she has had done, coming from the Ukraine. I've sat writing this with her and even with all the barking around us, she has fallen asleep, I'm so glad she trusts me and I hope she finds her forever home, really, really soon.

Bunny is wonderful girl who is the kindest, sweetest dog and has come to us from Ukraine via War Paws Rescue. In Ukraine Bunny spent most of her life with the same dog and can very occasionally can get worried meeting a dog, but since her pal left she has met and played so well with multiple dogs. Any introductions would need to be done carefully to make sure Bunny is always comfortable. Bunny can be shy to meet people at first, but it doesn't take her long to be your best friend, she is more wary of men (not all) but as she realises good intentions and kindness she comes around well. Bunny loves to play, give kisses and is a happy girl once she knows you. In Ukraine she cut her paw at the shelter and was very willing to let us wash and dress it daily. Bunny will need gentle exposure to the big wide world so that she adjusts to it properly. Bunny will need a special home who will give her the time and not overwhelm her with everything at once. She walks on a lead, although adopters will need to build a bond with her, give her plenty of time to settle and be mindful that she is new to the UK so when out and about may never have seen/heard things we consider normal so will need to be introduced into the big wide world slowly and put in environments she can grow in confidence and flourish. We are unsure if she has ever lived in a home before so she will need help learning new skills and given plenty of understanding as she finds her feet. Bunny enjoys the company of other dogs and will need a confident resident dog that is similar size or larger to be her best friend. She has much more confidence when around other dogs so this will really help her settle into her new life and flourish. She will need to be fed separately as she doesn't like to share food with other dogs which is understandable. The stress of kennels is getting to her, she will appreciate a calm home, but one where she will get enough exercise as she is an energetic little dog. Bunny will absolutely be your best friend and will love you more than the world. Bunny has a passport.
Bunny has been tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis, Borrelia, Babesia and Canine Brucellosis while in the Ukraine between 2022-2023 which were negative. Bunny has also been tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis, Borrelia and Canine Brucellosis since her arrival at the rescue using Bionote rapid tests and all were negative.
