Meet Onyx, a charming little terrier who is ready to find his forever home!

Onyx came to us from a breeder, and while he’s understandably a bit shy around new faces, he’s a friendly and loving boy once he knows you. His sweet, slightly reserved nature will melt your heart, and he’s already shown great progress in learning to trust people. He absolutely loves being pampered and enjoyed a calm, gentle groom, which he handled beautifully. Onyx is an intelligent little guy with an inquisitive and mischievous side—he’s sure to bring lots of joy and personality to the lucky family that adopts him.

This lovely boy will thrive in an active home where he can explore the world with his new family. He’s curious about the world around him and will need patient adopters who can help him learn essential skills like house training. Onyx can definitely be an only dog in the right home, and he could live with older children who are respectful and experienced with dogs. He enjoys meeting new dogs, and while he has a lovely social side, he would be happiest as the one-and-only in a home where he gets all the attention and love.

Onyx has been to the vet, who noted that he has Grade 2 luxating patellas. While this isn’t causing him any pain at the moment, his adopters should be aware that it may require monitoring, and possibly further assessment in the future. He currently manages just fine, and with gentle exercise, he could improve. However, this won’t be covered by insurance, so it’s important that potential adopters are aware of this.

Onyx is an incredibly affectionate boy who loves cuddles and attention. He enjoys being around people, often seeking out volunteers for lap time, and his tail wags are enough to brighten anyone’s day. He’s also a clever little guy who enjoys working on puzzle toys and could easily learn basic commands. Though he may need some reassurance while navigating the big wide world, Onyx walks well on a lead and is well on his way to being a confident companion.

He truly is an absolute sweetheart, and we believe he will make a loyal and loving companion to the right family. Onyx is a little boy with a lot of love to give, and he’s just waiting for someone special to call his own. If you're looking for a loyal, intelligent, and affectionate dog to share your life with, Onyx may just be the perfect match for you.
