A Big Heart in a Small Package: Meet Olly

Olly is a ten-year-old Jack Russell cross Pug with a truly unforgettable personality. He came to Many Tears as one of 12 dogs from an emergency rescue, after his devoted former owner lost her home and could no longer care for them. Despite everything he's been through, Olly is full of charm, spirit, and affection and now he’s ready for the retirement home he so deserves.

Olly has a spinal injury from a fall earlier in life, which has left him with limited use of his back legs and incontinence. He doesn’t let that stop him. Inside the house, he gets around confidently under his own steam, sometimes dragging himself, sometimes taking a few wobbly steps. He wears nappies to manage his incontinence, and these are easy to change as he’s very compliant and trusting.

His foster carers describe him as clever, determined, and wonderfully loving. He adores human company, especially ladies, and will happily snooze on the sofa by your side for hours. He’s good with other dogs and would thrive with a gentle companion who doesn’t mind sharing. He could also potentially be an only dog in the right home, but he cannot be left alone for long his happiness depends on having someone nearby.

Olly enjoys garden time, buggy walks, and car rides, and he’s currently benefiting from hydrotherapy and physiotherapy, which have helped him gain strength. He doesn’t need ongoing treatment, but continuing gentle exercise and Yumove supplements (which are non-prescription) would be helpful if possible.

Olly is best suited to a quiet, adult-only home or one with older teenagers. He’d love a home on one level with easy access to a safe, grassy garden where he can potter and explore at his own pace.

He’s a funny, affectionate little soul who doesn’t let his disability define him and neither should you. He’s ready for his next chapter, full of love, comfort, and plenty of cuddles. Could you be his forever person?

Olly's Diary

  • Olly has been in foster care here for 4 months now, and has come on in leaps and bounds. A very determined terrier, he does not let his disability hold him back despite his spinal cord injury and is fully mobile around our house. Olly is incontinent of both urine and faeces, but we now easily manage this with disposable male wraps and washable nappies. He’s very compliant and this is quite easy to manage, with few accidents even overnight.

Olly loves human company and likes to be around his person (he’s a bit of a ladies man!!) most of the time. He is also comfortable with our resident dogs, and his ideal forever home would be with another dog for company, who doesn’t mind sharing a bed. He could possibly be an only dog, but doesn’t like being left alone so would need his human around or have someone else with him all of the time.

Olly loves exploring the garden, trips out in a doggy buggy and traveling in the car. He’s also at his happiest on the sofa next to his human snoozing his time away. He sleeps quietly all night and is food mad!! We use a slow feed bowl, and observe him eating around our dogs to stop him stealing!

We have tried Olly with a wheelchair but he really wasn’t keen, preferring to get around under his own steam. We are currently attending some dog hydrotherapy and physiotherapy to strengthen Olly’s back legs and he has responded really well to this, gaining in strength and actually being able to stand on his back legs for short periods. If his forever family could continue this, that would be ideal but isn’t essential. Olly has also responded really well to Yumove supplements (non prescription).

Olly is such a character and everyone who meets him falls for his charms. Please don’t let his disability define him, as he certainly doesn’t.

  • Olly is till waiting patiently for his forever family. Loving, clever and such a little fighter. He will need a calm home, where  his humans are there most of the time, as he isn’t keen on being left alone for long. Possibly able to be an only dog in the right home, or can share with another calm easy going dog who’s happy to share their space.

Olly does have some quirks. He had a fall in the past which has left him with a spinal injury. He can get around completely on his own but does move with a very wobbly gait. He drags himself around when his legs don’t let him go fast enough! Olly is also incontinent, but wears nappies and is easy to change. He would thrive in a home which is all on one level as he loves pottering in & out of our garden here in foster. He loves going for a walk with my gang in his buggy & is also perfect with cats. Olly also loves going out in the car, & his favourite pastime (secondary to eating that is!)  is lying with you on the sofa, having a tummy rub.

Olly is honestly adorable, & so deserves his forever home to enjoy all the home comforts in his retirement.

  • Meet adorable Olly. A VERY special boy looking for his forever home.
He does require additional care but this definitely doesn’t hold him back one bit!! Olly whizzes around our home using mainly his front legs, as he has limited use in his back legs. He can & does stand/walk & has made great progress in the 4 months with us, but he will not be able to walk normally. He enjoys outings in his dog buggy & can “walk” around the park on soft grass for shorter distances. We’ve started Yumove & Olly has been brilliant with some hydrotherapy & physio. There is such a difference now & continuing would be great if his new family were able to.

Olly is also doubly incontinent, but this is very straight forward to manage with wraps/nappies. He’s very compliant with nappy changes, and can go through the night with no issues.

Olly adores human company, & snoozing on the sofa next to his person. He’s a bit of a ladies man, but accepts men too. He is fine with our resident dogs, and will share a bed with them. However, he could be an only dog in the right home but doesn’t like being left alone for very long. Luckily he’s very portable & travels well in the car. He’s my little shadow here but sleeps well all night.

A little dog with a massive personality/heart, he deserves the very best retirement. A reasonably quiet home with a nice garden to potter around & humans who are around most of the time would be perfect for Olly. He would be best with only older children or adults only, and a slower pace of life so he can have lots of attention. He amazes me every day with his zest for life and deserves to be adored. Please don’t leave this gorgeous boy waiting any longer.

  • Olly has been in foster now since mid December and is the sweetest soul you could ever meet. He now has a wheelchair and is learning to use this to get around outside. Olly is amazing at mobilising inside the house and either pulls himself around on his front legs or can take a few steps on all four legs. His back legs certainly do not stop him getting around and I sometimes struggle to keep up with him!

Olly now has his incontinence managed well with pads/nappies and is very compliant with nappy changes. He adores food and is the most affectionate dog you could ever meet. He sleeps all night and likes a ride in his buggy!

In the right circumstances Olly could be ok as an only dog, as he’s very attached to his humans. He would need human company most of the time then though, as he’s very attached and doesn’t like being left all alone. He mixes well with dogs of all sizes and is fine with our cat. Olly is the most special of little chaps and will make someone so lucky in his forever home.

  • Olly is one of 12 little dogs who have come to Many Tears as part of an emergency rescue situation. They have all been owned and loved by a lady who sadly lost her home and had a difficult time with her mental health. She lived for her dogs but had nowhere to go with them. Things reached crisis point when all the dogs were living in a small caravan with no electric or running water, in freezing conditions. The dogs were frightened, either hiding away or barking with worry.

The lady tried everything she could to give the dogs the life they deserved but was unable to do so and knew the only way to show them she loved them for one last time was to allow them to live with families who could give them the warm, stable and loving environment they need.

We agreed to take the dogs and we also took the lady somewhere she would be safe, warm and cared for. They are all older dogs so most need to see the vet for dentals but we are determined to help this lady by finding the dogs the wonderful homes they deserve as soon as we can. The dogs have been through so much and they need to settle down and enjoy their twilight years.

Olly is such a lovely little older man. Sadly he is doubly incontinent so he does leak both urine and faeces. He has arrived to us with weakness in his back legs and does walk with a very abnormal gait. We were told that he fell off a 6ft wall in the past and that his legs have never been the same. He has had a thorough assessment with our vet and they cannot find any physical reason why he walks this way, but he doesn't seem to be in pain and gets around very well. He hasn't had much exercise and so his muscles have also weakened. Olly would benefit from a gentle introduction to exercise and perhaps some physio but this may not make a difference to the way he walks. Although this doesn't bother him at the moment, his adopters would need to be aware that any treatment relating to this condition would not be covered by insurance. Olly has also had 5 teeth extracted by our vet.

Olly will come up to you and will crawl onto your lap for a cuddle. All he wants is to be loved and loves the ladies! Olly hates being left alone and needs someone to scoop him up and help him feel safe. With lots of love and TLC he will shine
