A Gentle Soul with a Soft Spot for the Ladies

Twist is a 7-year-old Dachshund who came to us from a breeder and is now enjoying life in a loving foster home. This sweet little chap is settling well into home life after a lifetime without one, and he's showing his true personality more each day. Twist is fondly known as the resident Victor Meldrew in foster, but behind the grumpy face is a cuddly, affectionate boy who loves nothing more than snuggling up with the resident female dachshunds in his foster home.

Twist will need a calm, understanding forever home with at least one kind, confident female dog, preferably a dachshund or another dog of similar or larger size. He truly blossoms in the company of lady dogs and looks to them for comfort and companionship. He is less keen on male dogs and would like a home without them.

As Twist had never lived in a home before his time in foster, his adopters will need to support him as he continues to learn about house training, lead walking, and the rhythms of family life. He sleeps downstairs, is okay being left for short periods with his doggy friends, and has started harness training. Twist is also half house trained "in a male dog sort of way," as his foster carer affectionately puts it, so patience and praise will go a long way.

Twist isn’t used to children and would prefer an adult-only home where he can enjoy a quiet life with plenty of treats and sofa snuggles. He had some skin issues and a swollen paw when he arrived, both of which have improved greatly with care. He also had four teeth extracted during his neuter, but he doesn’t let that get in the way of enjoying his food, especially if there are carrots involved!

If you have a peaceful home, a kind-hearted female dog, and a treat box at the ready, Twist could be the perfect new addition to your family. He's ready to share his quirky charm and gentle cuddles with someone special.
