Vanilla the Tiny Treasure Is Ready to Learn What Love Feels Like

Vanilla, affectionately known as Poppy in her foster home, is a delicate 2-year-old Cavapoo who has come to us from a breeder. She’s a tiny little dot of a girl, much smaller than she looks in photos, and full of quiet charm. Although she’s still learning to trust, Vanilla is gently beginning to show her sweet, playful nature and is ready for her next chapter.

Vanilla has been in foster for a couple of months now and is making gentle progress at her own pace. While she’s still unsure about being touched, she absolutely adores being near her fosterers. She waggles her whole body with happiness when she sees them, takes treats from their hands, and will even come up for a little nose bop when they sit on the floor.

She sleeps soundly through the night in her bed downstairs, a spot she’s chosen for herself. While she’s not quite ready to follow her foster family upstairs, she waits at the bottom with a happy dance, clearly wanting to be part of the moment. It’s just going to take a little more time for her to feel safe enough to fully join in.

Vanilla finds great comfort in the company of other dogs and must be homed with at least one playful, confident resident dog who can help her feel safe and teach her about home life. She loves joining in with garden zoomies and playtime when she thinks no one is watching, and she’ll need a doggy companion who welcomes her gentle presence and cuddles.

She would thrive in a calm, patient, adult only home with ex-breeding experienced adopters, where her main carer is female, as she’s currently more at ease around women. In her dream world, her home would have minimal visitors, especially minimal male visitors. She would love the other resident dogs to be of similar age, size and breed if possible. Her adopters will need to support her with house training and settling in to her new home. Like many dogs from her background, everyday sights and sounds such as the TV or hoover may be unfamiliar at first, so she’ll need gentle encouragement as she adjusts.

She has now learned to walk on a lead and harness and is really enjoying it.

Vanilla is a truly special little soul. She’s still learning what it means to be loved, but she’s trying so very hard to be brave. In the right home, with kindness, patience, and the steady paw of a canine friend, she will continue to blossom and become the joyful, affectionate companion she’s meant to be.
