I need a quiet home where I won’t be overwhelmed while I settle in at my own pace.

I can be an only dog or live with other dogs. I have never met cats.

I'm an active breed and will love going for walks once I gain more confidence!

  • Training needs

I have never lived in a home so I will need help to learn house training.

  • Medical issues

I have had a bladder stone removed and need to be fed a special urinary diet.

Shangrila Is Ready for Her New Beginning

Shangrila is a 5-year-old female German Shepherd who has come to us from a breeder and is now looking for a kind, experienced home where she can truly begin her life. This stunning girl has never lived in a home before, so everything from household sounds to simple routines will be new to her. She will need gentle guidance as she learns skills like house training and gains confidence in her surroundings.

Since arriving, Shangrila has had surgery to remove a large bladder stone, and we’re pleased to share that she has recovered well. She is now on a special urinary diet to help prevent further stones, and this will need to continue in her new home. While she is doing brilliantly, any recurrence of bladder stones would be considered a pre-existing condition and will not be covered by standard pet insurance. Her adopters should be aware of this and be prepared to monitor her health with the support of their vet.

Shangrila is an energetic girl who is becoming increasingly frustrated in kennels. She’s now ready for her forever home and her confidence has grown to the point that she could be homed either as an only dog or with other calm companions. That said, she is not a playful dog with others and is far more interested in human companionship. Her affectionate Shepherd nature is shining through, and she loves following people around and mouthing gently to ask for attention. This behaviour is her way of connecting and will need to be managed with continued patience and positive reinforcement.

Due to her tendency to be mouthy when seeking interaction, Shangrila would not be suited to a home with children. She will be happiest in an adult-only home with adopters who understand Shepherds and can help her continue to grow in confidence through consistent, loving care.

She walks nicely on a lead and enjoys getting out and about. Shangrila also comes with her travel documentation and is more than ready to start her next chapter.

If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion and can offer a steady, understanding environment, Shangrila might just be the perfect match. With the right support, she will thrive and reward you with deep, lifelong devotion.
