Meet Izzy, a stunning 8-month-old Collie cross Pointer who is full of energy, spirit, and promise. This beautiful young girl came to us from a home where she found it difficult to cope with the busy environment and presence of young children. Because of this, Izzy is now looking for a calm, adult-only home with no visiting children and experienced adopters who can give her the structure, support, and love she needs to truly shine.
Izzy is still very much a pup at heart. She’s clever, playful, and full of enthusiasm for life, but she’s also navigating some challenges and needs a home where she can continue her training in a positive, consistent way. She has shown some resource guarding behaviours and has nipped in the past, so her new family must have experience with similar issues and be confident in helping her make the right choices. With the right guidance, Izzy has every chance of growing into a well-rounded and happy adult dog.
Izzy’s Collie side brings a keen intelligence and need for mental stimulation, while her Pointer side adds elegance and a love of movement. She’s happiest when she’s on the go, and she absolutely adores walks, especially on the beach with other dogs and a tennis ball to chase! She has a lovely, responsive nature when given clear direction and is already crate trained, house trained, and knows commands like “sit,” “wait,” and “down.” She’s especially polite about letting you know when she needs the toilet and will wait by the back door like a little lady.
Izzy enjoys the company of other dogs and could live with a kind, playful resident dog in her new home. Alternatively, she’d be just as happy as the centre of attention in a home where she gets plenty of outdoor adventures and fun. A secure garden is essential, giving her space to run, sniff, and burn off her energy safely.
Izzy loves food and is highly treat-motivated, which makes her a joy to train. She has made fantastic progress with simple routines here at the rescue, such as calmly sitting when someone enters or leaves her kennel, learning that patience and calm behaviour bring rewards. She does sometimes get overexcited and enjoys mouthing during play, so her adopters will need to help her learn the difference between fun and overstimulation.
This special girl is affectionate, lively, and bursting with potential. She needs a home that can offer clear boundaries, plenty of enrichment, and lots of love. If you’re an experienced dog owner ready for a bright, active companion who will make you laugh, keep you on your toes, and love you with all her heart, Izzy could be your perfect match.
Izzy has been diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia and has undergone a Femoral Head and Neck Excision to help reduce the pain she may be experiencing. Izzy is currently working on healing and getting back to her playful and bouncy self!
