Izzy has had quite the week, and we are so incredibly proud of her. Our lovely girl went for X-rays on her hip, and in the words of the team member who took her, “she was an absolute angel.” She sat patiently in the waiting room, showing off her best manners to all the humans and dogs she met along the way.

The X-rays have confirmed that Izzy will need surgery on her hips, which will take place very soon to help make her more comfortable and to get her one step closer to being home-ready.

Looking ahead, Izzy is searching for a quiet, adult-only home where she can be the only dog. She needs adopters with experience of bright, energetic dogs people who are ready to support her through her recovery. While she heals, her body will need rest, but her mind will still need stimulation. Her new home will need to provide calm, structured enrichment to keep her clever brain busy without putting strain on her body.

We actually think a bit of enforced calm, with plenty of brain games and peaceful companionship might do Izzy the world of good. We’ve already started adapting her routine here at the rescue, and she’s responded beautifully. She’s especially fond of sitting quietly and watching the world go by, she’s taken quite a liking to the horses here.

With the right recovery plan and a patient, loving home, Izzy has every chance of enjoying a healthy, happy future.

I spent time with Izzy when she first arrived and again today, she’s such a wonderful bundle of energy, and the progress she’s made is amazing to see. When I first met her, she struggled when anyone left her kennel and would do her best to keep you with her for company. I think she gets bored easily and needs plenty of enrichment to help tire her out and keep her mind busy.

We’ve been working on having Izzy sit when you enter and leave her kennel. This consistent training has helped her a lot, especially since she gets a treat each time, teaching her that someone leaving isn’t a bad thing.

Izzy is a playful, clever pup who responds well to friendly but firm training. She’s already picked up commands like “sit,” “down,” and “here” with ease—treats are a big motivator for her! I took her down to the big yard and she absolutely loved chasing the ball and bringing it back in exchange for a reward.

She’s still a young dog, so she’s full of energy and always thrilled to see someone approaching her kennel. She loves attention and fuss and has so much love to give. It’s heartbreaking to see such a bright, affectionate girl in kennels—she’d make a fantastic addition to an active and loving home.

Please meet Izzy! She has come to us from a home after struggling to cope with the young children in the home. She will be looking for an adult only home, with no visiting children. Izzy can display resource guarding behaviours and so will need experienced adopters who have owned dogs with similar issues. She requires a home with patient and knowledgeable adopters who can help her work through her challenges. She has a tendency to make the wrong choices, and has nipped in the past, so it's crucial that her new family can confidently manage her behaviour, set her up for success and ensure she isn't given the opportunity to make the wrong decisions going forward.

Izzy is still only young and enjoys mouthing during play but can become overstimulated and worked up, so her adopters should be prepared to guide her through this and help her learn appropriate play behaviour. In the right home, Izzy has the potential to thrive and become a wonderful companion!

Izzy has so much personality and was previously living as an only dog in the home. However, she can live with other dogs as she loves to play with them or could be homed as an only dog with adopters that are adventurous and willing to take her on plenty of walks.

Izzy has the personality of an active Collie and the looks of a beautiful pointer, making her the most beautiful mix of a dog. She walks on a lead wonderfully and is house trained. Izzy would love a secure garden where she can let out some steam and play.

We are told by Izzy's previous owner that she LOVES walks on the beach with other dogs - especially when it includes a tennis ball and her favourite game of fetch! She adores food (what a typical Collie), is crate trained, house trained and knows special skills like "sit", "wait", and will even patiently wait by the backdoor when she is ready to go outside for the bathroom.
