Gentle Soul Moose Is Learning to Trust

Moose is a 6-year-old Poodle who has come to us from a breeder. This sweet boy is beginning a brand-new chapter in life, and while he is still finding his feet, his gentle spirit is shining through more each day.

When Moose first arrived, he was shy and unsure of kind human hands. But with time, patience, and the steady companionship of other dogs, his confidence has grown beautifully. He now cautiously approaches people with a wagging tail, especially if you crouch down and speak gently, and he’ll reward your kindness with the softest little kisses.

Moose hasn’t lived in a home before, so he’s still learning the ropes of lead walking and will need help with house training. These are all new experiences for him, but he’s taking baby steps forward and starting to understand that good things lie ahead. He’ll need a patient family who can guide him with kindness and celebrate each milestone along the way.

He currently shares his kennel with three calm and confident female Chows, and he absolutely thrives in their company. Moose will need a home with at least one resident female dog to help him feel safe and continue building his confidence. He wouldn’t be suited to a home with male dogs.

With his soft nature and growing trust, Moose is on the cusp of blossoming into the most loyal and loving companion. He has a heart of gold and would do best in a home where he can take things at his own pace, surrounded by love, calm, and the steady friendship of a kind dog.

Moose is ready to sneak into someone’s heart. If you can offer him the gentle guidance he needs, he’ll repay you with trust, quiet joy, and a love that grows stronger every day.

Moose's Diary

  • Moose’s confidence has grown beautifully during his time at the rescue, and he continues to charm everyone he meets with his gentle, sensitive nature. While he’s still a little timid about being stroked, he’s beginning to come out of his shell and trust more. Moose will now cautiously approach with a wagging tail, especially if you crouch down and speak softly, and he’ll give your hands the sweetest little kisses.

He’s making lovely progress and is showing a real desire to connect, especially once he feels safe. Walking on the lead is still a bit scary, but he’s taking baby steps and becoming more comfortable with the feel of the lead — he’s starting to understand it means good things are ahead.

Moose is currently kennelled with three lovely female Chows, and the bond between them is wonderful. He really thrives in the company of calm, confident female dogs, so we’re looking for a home with at least one kind female dog to help him settle and feel secure. He wouldn’t be suited to a home with male dogs.

With a patient and understanding family, Moose is going to continue blossoming. He’s got a heart of gold and is making steady, heartwarming progress every day.

  • Moose has come to us from a breeder and is ready to find his forever home. This sweet boy can be a little shy at first, and is a little unsure of our kind hands at the moment, but as he continues to grow, he seems to allow a gentle fuss and doesn't mind being handled. However, once Moose is with his canine friends, his playful and happy-go-lucky nature shines through! In the play yard, he runs and enjoys himself but can be a little shut down when he is alone. Therefore, Moose will need a kind resident friend in the home that he can look to for assurance and to help guide him as he learns about his new life.
