Gus has been back at the rescue for over three months now, and it’s honestly heartbreaking to see such a loyal, loving soul still waiting for his second chance. I’ve been working closely with him this entire time, and in that time, we’ve built a bond that’s truly special. His loyalty to me is unwavering … he’s not just a dog I care for, he’s become my best friend. Gus greets me every day with so much joy, so much hope in his eyes, and it makes it even harder knowing that he still doesn’t have a place to call home.
He’s had a rough start in life, and because of that, he can still be a little unsure when meeting new people. But he’s come so far. Once he realises he’s safe, you can almost see his whole body relax. It doesn't take long before his tail is wagging and he’s leaning in for affection. He’s had a bath and a proper groom recently, and he did SO well … we were all so proud of him. It was one of those moments that really reminded me just how much he wants to trust, how much he wants to belong to someone.
Out on walks, he’s made amazing progress. He’s getting much better at walking past other dogs, and more often than not now, he’ll just keep walking calmly without reacting. Every day he’s growing, learning, and becoming more confident. But the truth is, no matter how much love and care we give him here, it’s not the same as having a real home.
Gus is such a sweet boy, with a heart full of love just waiting to be shared. He doesn’t want much .. just someone who will give him the patience, understanding, and safety he needs to fully blossom. In return, you’ll get a fiercely loyal companion who will love you with everything he has.
Please, if you’ve been thinking about adopting, consider giving Gus the home he so deeply deserves. His time in the rescue has gone on far too long, and every day he waits is a day his love goes unseen. He’s ready. He’s waiting. Let’s not keep him waiting any longer.
