Reba, a Gentle Soul Starting to Find Her Bravery

Reba is a 2-year-old Chow who has come to us from a breeder to find her very special forever home. When Reba first arrived, she was absolutely petrified of the world around her. Having never experienced much human interaction, everything was overwhelming and frightening for her.

With gentle, patient care from our staff, Reba has slowly started to make some wonderful progress. This brave girl is now wearing a harness and has begun to go for short walks. While she still needs a little gentle encouragement to get started, once she gets going she is beginning to enjoy her walks, stopping to sniff along the way and building her confidence one step at a time. Reba has also started to allow some tentative strokes from those she knows, but she remains very wary of touch. Her adopters will need to understand that building trust will take time, patience, and a great deal of kindness.

Reba has a close bond with her kennel companion and draws great comfort from having another dog by her side. For this reason, she will need at least one kind and confident resident dog in her new home to help guide her and give her reassurance as she adjusts to life in a home environment.

As she has never lived in a home before, Reba’s adopters will need to gently support her as she learns about house training, lead walking, and all the routines of daily home life. A calm, quiet, adult-only home will be essential to help her feel safe and allow her to settle at her own pace.

Reba is a very special girl who has already shown great courage, and in the right home we believe she will continue to blossom. It will be incredibly rewarding for her adopters to see her grow in confidence and trust, and to witness her tail wag as she begins to feel safe and loved. Reba does have some patchy areas of fur at the moment, but with good nutrition and now that she has been spayed, her coat should start to improve and grow back nicely.

Reba’s journey will take time, but for the right person, she will be a truly wonderful and loyal companion.

Reba's Diary

  • The beautiful Reba, a lady that arrived at our rescue petrified of the world. Slowly, slowly over the past few weeks and with the staffs gentle perseverance Reba has started to make some wonderful progress.and this brave lady is now wearing a harness and venturing out for little walks. Reba takes a little coaxing but once she gets going you can see that she is beginning to enjoy the experience and will stop for a sniff along the way and each day we are able to go a little further. Reba has started to trust us enough to give her tentative stokes, but she is still unsure and her adopters will have to realise she’s going to need lots and lots of patience and time to learn to trust them. Reba has a very close kennel companions and she looks to him for confidence and will most definitely need a a kind resident dog in her new home.

  • Reba has come to us from a breeder to find her forever home. She is a very worried girl who is overwhelmed to find herself here at the moment and in need of lots of love and kindness as she starts to settle in and feel secure. Reba is very worried by us at the moment and isn't sure about being touched or handled, so will be looking for a calm and quiet, adult only home with adopters who will allow her to settle in at her own pace and will offer her gentle words of encouragement. Reba will need at least one other kind and confident resident dog in her new home to be her friend and take her under their wing. She has never lived in a home before so will need kindness and understanding as she learns all about home life as well as new skills like house training and how to walk on a lead. Reba is a very special girl who is in need of a home just as special as she is and in the right environment we think she is going to truly thrive. It will be so worth it to see her tail wag for the first time as she begins to grow in confidence and trust. Reba has some patchy areas of fur, but with a good diet and now she is spayed, this should soon start to grow back nicely.
