Petal is Blooming Slowly but Surely

Petal is a 3-year-old Bichon Frise who came to us from a breeder. When she first arrived, she was deeply unsure of everything, and the world felt like a very big and scary place (shes only 4.5kg). But over the past few months, this gentle little girl has begun to show us the soft, sweet nature hiding beneath her timid shell.

Petal has never lived in a home before, so she’ll need kind adopters who understand that everyday things like televisions, hoovers, and doorbells will all be new to her. She will need ongoing help with house training, and although she’s started harness training, she still finds walking alone overwhelming. A calm, secure garden will be important as she continues to build confidence.

Petal draws strength from other dogs and will need at least one kind, confident resident dog in her new home. With a doggy friend by her side, she watches, learns, and finds just enough courage to try. She still freezes when walking solo, but with a canine companion to follow, she is starting to take gentle steps forward.

She now accepts gentle handling and is slowly learning that people can be kind. Petal will need a calm, quiet, and patient adult-only home where she can continue to blossom at her own pace. She has a touch of hormonal alopecia on her back legs that is being monitored and causes no discomfort, but as with any pre-existing condition, adopters should be aware it may not be covered by standard pet insurance.

Petal may still be shy, but she has already come such a long way. With time, love, and the right support, we truly believe she will flourish. She just needs someone to believe in her.

Petal's Diary

  • Petal is a beautiful, gentle soul who has been with us for a few months now. Despite her quiet charm and slowly growing confidence, she continues to be overlooked, and it truly breaks our hearts. When Petal first arrived, she was extremely nervous and unsure of the world around her. But over time, with patience and love, she’s slowly but surely blossomed. She now accepts gentle handling and has even started her harness training, something we’re so proud of. Petal leans heavily on her kennel buddies for comfort and reassurance. She draws strength from other dogs, watching and learning from them. When walking alone, she still freezes and shuts down, but with a confident doggy friend by her side, she finds a little more courage every day.
    Petal Needs:

A calm, quiet, and patient home
A kind, confident resident dog to guide her
Continued support with toilet training and harness work
Lots of love, understanding, and time to adjust

Petal may be shy, but beneath that timid shell is a dog with so much potential, she just needs someone to believe in her. She’s come so far already. Now, she just needs that special person (and doggy friend) to help her take the final step into a loving forever home.

  • Petal is a darling little girl who has come to us from a breeder. She is a sweet and sensitive soul who, with a little time and lots of TLC, looks like she will truly blossom in the right home. At the moment, Petal is feeling quite frightened by all the changes in her life. She finds comfort and reassurance in her kennel friends, and because of this, she will need at least one kind and confident resident dog in her forever home. A canine companion will be essential to help guide her, offer support, and show her that the world doesn’t have to be so scary.

Petal can become stressed when being handled, so a calm, quiet home will be best to help her feel safe as she starts to settle. She has never lived in a home before, so everyday sights, sounds, and routines will all be completely new to her. She will need gentle guidance with house training, and walking on a lead may be far too overwhelming at first. For now, she’ll benefit from a secure garden where she can explore, sniff, and begin to build confidence at her own pace.

Petal will thrive with kind, compassionate people who can give her the patience and understanding she needs. Watching her grow, gain trust, and learn to love will be an incredibly special journey.

Petal has come to us with a touch of hormonal alopecia on her back legs that is being monitored.
