I am ready for my forever home!

Oreo originally came to us as an unsold puppy at just 5 months old. Sadly, his first adoption didn’t work out due to lead reactivity and car lunging, and he was passed between rescues before finally coming back to us. But since returning, Oreo has come on leaps and bounds, both literally and figuratively!

Now around a year old, Oreo has blossomed in his foster home. Once described as highly reactive, he now walks beautifully on the lead, however, Oreo can get a little boisterous if another dog is excitable or high-energy, so he should be kept on a lead around unfamiliar dogs unless he's in a secure, enclosed area and introduced properly. His foster home includes children 6+, several dogs, cats, and even a house parrot, and he’s been amazing with all of them indoors. That being said, we would be open to homing him with dog-savvy teens who understand his needs and will provide him with plenty of play time.

Oreo still needs a confident, experienced owner who can continue his training. He responds brilliantly to structure and clear boundaries, and with the right person, he’s eager to please. We are ideally looking for a home with a kind resident dog that Oreo can look to as a playmate and to continue learning from.

He’s an active, intelligent boy who thrives with two long walks a day, preferably off-lead in a secure area. If not properly exercised, he can get into mischief like chewing or bin-raiding. His recall is improving fast, especially if you’ve got chicken or ham!

Oreo is house clean in his current foster home but may have a few accidents in his new home as he settles in. With love, patience, and the right leadership, Oreo will make an incredible companion. If you're ready to continue his journey and help him become the best version of himself, Oreo is ready to give you all his love, and a few zoomies too.

  • Oreo has been in foster care for nearly two weeks, and what an absolute sweetheart he is! This big, bouncy boy has a heart as big as his paws and doesn’t quite realize how large he is, he prances around like Rudolph does in the air!

When Oreo first came to us, we were told he didn’t get along with other dogs and could be reactive on the lead. Since settling into foster care, he’s proven to be an absolute gem. Oreo currently lives with children (ages 6+), a 3kg Chihuahua, a pocket bully, a cocker spaniel, a cockapoo, three cats, and even a house parrot and he’s been amazing with them all. Not a single incident in the home!

Out on walks, if another dog reacts to him first, Oreo can get overexcited and jump like a kangaroo, barking and lunging. But with the right correction, he quickly calms down within seconds. He’s come a long way and just needs a confident handler to continue his progress.

Oreo must have two good walks a day, his current routine includes a 40-minute morning walk and a 90-minute evening adventure. Off-lead walks are essential, he needs space to run and explore. Without the right level of exercise, he may resort to chewing things like toys, books, or raiding the bins!

His recall is a work in progress, but if you have chicken or ham on hand, he’s your best friend. On walks, if other dogs are around, Oreo is calmly put back on lead and walks past beautifully, as long as the other dog stays calm too.

At home, he’s a total cuddlebug. After a good walk, Oreo loves nothing more than curling up on the sofa for snuggles. He’s brilliant with the other pets, shares toys beautifully, and fits right into the hustle and bustle of family life.

Oreo is looking for a busy, active home with at least one other playful dog to help keep him entertained. He thrives on activity and interaction, and having a doggy friend has made a world of difference for him. A home that can offer him exercise, enrichment, and plenty of love is exactly what he needs.

If you’re looking for a fun-loving, affectionate, and energetic companion who will shower you with love (and maybe a bit of slobber), Oreo is your boy!

  • Oreo came to us as an unsold puppy at just 5 months old, and although he was adopted, things didn’t work out for him due to some behavioural issues. He was very reactive on his lead and would lunge at cars while out walking. This resulted in him being passed on to another rescue, but when they weren’t able to provide the right support, he came back to us. Now, Oreo is ready to find the perfect home where he can thrive.

At his core, Oreo is obedient and listens incredibly well to the right trainer. He needs a firm but fair owner who is experienced with reactive dogs. If Oreo is allowed to take charge, he’ll try to train you himself, but once he knows you’re in charge, he behaves wonderfully. His response to training is exceptional when given clear, consistent boundaries.

We’ve been slowly introducing Oreo to other dogs, and so far, he’s been absolutely fantastic with them! Oreo is looking for a home where the training will be continued. This will give him the structure and attention he needs. That said, if the right home comes along with adopters who are experienced in working with behavioural issues and are willing to put in the time and effort.

Oreo is full of life, energy, and love! He needs a lot of exercise to keep him happy and healthy, and his recall is fantastic, especially if there’s a tasty treat involved! He’s also super friendly and wants to greet everyone with enthusiasm.

If you’re looking for a dog who will bring a whole lot of fun and laughter into your life and you have experience working with dogs who have behavioural challenges, Oreo could be your perfect match. He’s ready to be your one and only companion and is looking for a dedicated owner to help him become the best dog he can be.
