Gianna

29-06-25 Beautiful Gianna originally came to us from a breeder. She was adopted and found herself in a loving home, but sadly she has been returned to us as in her adoptive home, Gianna displayed some behaviours that required a more experienced home.
At heart, Gianna is a wonderful, affectionate girl. Once she trusts you, she is incredibly loyal and enjoys nothing more than fuss and attention. However, Gianna can be very mistrustful of strangers, and her first instinct is to bark at new people, especially if she is inside her kennel. With proper introductions she does settle well, but in her previous home she struggled to feel safe when visitors came into the home. She could be reactive and could sometimes lunge towards the visitors if she felt overwhelmed. After a while of the visitors being in the home she would appear to settle, but would easily get very worried and reactive again.
Because of this, Gianna will need an experienced, adult only home without visiting children and ideally with few visitors at all. If visitors do come around, her adopters must be willing to manage this carefully by giving Gianna a safe space where she can be separated and feel secure.
At the rescue, we are working with Gianna every day to socialise her and help her build confidence around new people. She has been doing incredibly well here and we are so proud of the progress she is making. However, her worries do seem to be more pronounced in a home environment, so any adopters will need patience, consistency, and experience with dogs with similar behaviours.
With the right guidance, a solid routine, and experienced adopters who truly understand her, we believe Gianna will absolutely thrive. She has so much love to give and will reward your dedication a thousand times over with her loyalty and affection.
Gianna is confident enough to be homed as an only dog, provided her adopters are home most of the time to keep her company. She could also happily live alongside a kind, playful resident dog who can show her the ropes and help her settle. She cannot live with cats or small furries.
One of Gianna’s very favourite things is playtime, she absolutely loves to play and enjoys engaging in training sessions. She is a clever girl who already has good recall, and we are continuing to work on her training each day. Although Gianna has only briefly lived in a home and will likely need to learn about house training again, we expect she will pick this up quickly with consistency and positive reinforcement.
She is an active girl who enjoys her walks and will be looking for an active home where she can be kept both mentally and physically stimulated.
If you have experience with the breed or with dogs who need a little extra understanding, and you can offer Gianna the patient, structured home she needs, please consider giving this lovely girl her second chance. In the right home, she will blossom into the most wonderful companion.
