Narlie

12-06-25 Narlie, A Stunning Lurcher Looking for a Second Chance
Narlie is a beautiful 7-year-old Lurcher who originally came to us as part of an unwanted litter of puppies and was adopted as a young pup. After spending most of his life in a loving home, he has sadly found himself back at the rescue through no fault of his own following a relationship breakdown. Naturally, Narlie is very confused and heartbroken to be back in kennels, but with plenty of fuss from our staff and his favourite yellow duck toy by his side, we are doing all we can to help him adjust.
Narlie is an affectionate, friendly boy who loves everyone he meets. He gets excited when people visit and may initially jump up to greet them, but quickly settles once he’s had a fuss. His new family should be mindful of his enthusiasm around visitors, but his sweet nature always shines through.
He is house trained, though he may need a few gentle reminders in a new environment. Having grown up in a home, he’s used to the comforts of home life, happily snoozing on the sofa or bed, and often finds comfort in sucking on his blankets or duvet. Narlie enjoys tug of war, chasing balls, and playing treat hunts. After playtime, he loves nothing more than curling up for cuddles. His treat jar will need to be well stocked, he expects treats both before and after his walks!
Narlie walks very nicely on the lead and will sit at crossings on command. With a little encouragement, he has even enjoyed paddling in rivers and dipping his toes in the sea. However, he’s happiest in dry weather and much prefers to stay snuggled up inside on rainy days. Loud noises like fireworks, car exhausts, thunder and slamming doors can frighten him, so a quiet home in a peaceful area would suit him best.
As a clever boy, Narlie has figured out how to open doors, so his new home will need secure door handles and supervision to prevent escape attempts, particularly if he becomes frightened. He will need a home where any children are teens and will need to be calm, sensible, and dog savvy, as busy or noisy households may overwhelm him, he is a sensitive soul. His adopters should also be mindful that he may bolt if scared, so a secure garden and careful front door management are essential.
Narlie would be happy as the only dog in a home where his humans have plenty of time for him, but he may also live with another calm, kind dog following a successful meet and greet. However, he cannot live with cats.
Narlie does struggle with some separation anxiety and can become distressed if left alone, sometimes resulting in barking, scratching, crying, or chewing. His ideal home would be one where someone is around most of the time to provide the company and reassurance he needs.
Narlie is a truly special boy with so much love to give. With a kind and patient family, he will soon relax and enjoy life again. For the right home, Narlie will be a loyal, playful, and endlessly loving companion who simply wants to be part of a family once more. If you love lurchers you will adore this boy!
