Phoebe

15-07-25 Pheobe first came to us in 2023 from a breeder. She found a lovely home where she blossomed into a happy, loving girl. Sadly, when the resident dog passed away, Pheobe struggled with being an only dog, and it became clear she needed canine companionship to thrive. With heavy hearts, they made the decision to return her to us so she could find the right environment to be happy again.
Pheobe is understandably extremely overwhelmed to find herself back in kennels. She is very worried at the moment and is quite stressed by all the change. When approached, she tends to retreat into a corner to hide, and she is unsure about being handled. It is heartbreaking to see how confused and scared she is right now, but we know from her previous family that once she feels safe, she is the most affectionate and friendly little soul.
This sweet girl will need a calm, quiet home with patient adopters who have experience of helping scared ex-breeding dogs learn to trust. She absolutely must have at least one other kind and confident resident dog to take her under their wing and show her that life can be happy and safe again. Pheobe has previously lived with cats and so could share her home with a dog-savvy feline friend.
We are told that she is house trained, though she may need gentle reminders as she settles in. She can walk on a lead, but given how anxious she is right now, she will need time to rebuild her confidence before she’s ready for walks and adventures again. We are told that she hasn't been for walks since the resident dog passed away a few months ago.
In her last home, she was a bright, energetic girl who loved nothing more than doing morning zoomies and we really hope she finds that spark again soon. Pheobe has so much love to give, she just needs someone with patience, understanding, and kindness to help her remember she is safe and cherished. If you think you could be the person to help Pheobe find her happiness again, please submit an adoption application.
Her previous vets noted that she would lick her paws, which could be a sign of allergies but could also be related to stress.
