  • Human family requirements

I can live with dog-savvy teenagers who understand my needs.

  • Other pet requirements

I need a resident dog to help me feel safe. I've never met cats so I'm unsure!

  • House and garden requirements

I’m still a little shy so I need an extra secure garden to keep me safe.

  • Out and about requirements

I’d enjoy one or two quiet walks a day with the resident dog so I don't get anxious.

  • Training needs

I walk well on the lead but will need help with housetraining.

  • Medical issues

My cherry eyes were repaired but sadly have reoccured

Oh sweet Dave, a favourite in the rescue, and a beautiful boy that deserves so much to be in his own home, with his own family, in his own yard, and sleeping in his own bed. Dave originally came to us from a breeder as a worried and weary guy that didn't quite understand what it meant to be loved. We slowly began to see glimpses of his outgoing personality trying to shine, and it was so obvious he wanted to be loved, he just didn't know how to accept it. Now, we have found that Dave will meet a stranger with a wagging tail and a big smile on his face. And to test out that theory, a kennel staff member Dave had never met, slowly approached him and before we knew it, they went onto their adventure out of the kennel and into the big play yard!

Dave loves a sniff around, so don't be fooled if he doesn't seem overly playful at first - his nose his having the time of its life sniffing every inch and corner it can! Dave has unfortunately had a reoccurring cherry eye that has been operated on three times, and we are so hopeful that the third time is actually the charm. Dave is just a cool guy, very chill, very relaxed, very ready for a nap after some time outside. Dave can be homed with dog savvy teenagers who understand his needs and will need a kind resident dog to look to while he settles into his new home and learns about his new surroundings. Dave's personality and cool demeanor is wasted here in the kennels and we can't wait to see him flourish in a new home.

  • Dave is such a overlooked dog and I’m not sure why? He is honestly one of the most sweetest easy going dogs here!
Dave’s confidence has really flourished these last few months, and he has become so friendly to everyone he meets! He can still get a little overwhelmed in areas he’s unfamiliar with but with treats and a lot of reassurance he does settle!
Dave absolutely loves his kennel friend and his playful side shines through when she is with him! Dave is very much also a fan of the sun and you will find him relaxing in any bit of sunshine he finds once he’s had his run around! Dave has become a lot more confident and I do now believe he could potentially be homed with dog savvy children.
I honestly can’t believe this angel has had 0 interest because he is truly one in a million! Please don’t leave Dave waiting much longer for his forever home!

  • It was my first time meeting Dave today and he greeted me when I arrived at his kennel with a wagging tail and a big smiley face. I could tell he was ready to go out for a walk and he was more than happy to let me, a new stranger, take him on his next adventure. On the road, he was a bit nervous of the cars but after a quick shake off he was good to go. In the yard he wasn’t too bothered about any toys but he was interested in some treats and was super gentle taking them. He didn’t engage too much with me in the yard as it was our first time meeting, and instead chose to have a good sniff and wonder around. Dave is just a real cool dude, whether it’s plodding or playing, his time is utterly wasted her in kennels and I can’t wait to see him flourish in a home. Dave's cherry eye has returned after his previous repair, our vet team are now discussing referring Dave to a specialist to help get to the bottom of it.

  • Dave has been with us for about a month now, and the changes he has made within that month are remarkable. He came to us scared, untrusting and unwilling to be handled, and now he is full of confidence, friendly, allows being picked up to sit on your lap, and is just genuinely a completely different dog. He walks on harness and goes for short walks with people he knows or trusts. When introducing him to new people he is a little more scared, but after a few minutes of patience with him he soon warms to new people. Dave is currently kennelled with a few other dogs for friends for him, so although he is more confident now, he would still need a resident dog for company in his new home. Dave is full of fun and mischief and all he wants is a family that he can love and be the dog that all dogs should have the chance to be.

  • Dave is a stunning boy who has come to us from a breeder and is finding his new environment a bit overwhelming. He is very worried about our intentions and wary of being handled but he has found help from his kennel friends and with their help is beginning to understand our routine. At the moment although Dave isn't that trusting of us, he has been brave enough to already let us groom him and over the next few days, we're sure he'll begin to understand that we're not so bad. He has arrived with cherry eyes that our vet has repaired. Dave would benefit from adopters that are experienced with the Chow breed and can help him settle into home life and give him the security and guidance he needs to flourish. Dave must live in an adult only home without any visiting children and at least one resident dog who he can learn from. Dave will need help with housetraining but does know how to walk on a lead.
