Meet Olly, a sweet and loving older gentleman who came to Many Tears in December 2024 with 11 other dogs as part of an emergency rescue. Olly was once owned by a lady who loved him dearly but was facing extremely difficult circumstances. The dogs were living in a small caravan with no electric or running water, and the conditions were freezing and frightening for them. Despite the challenges, the lady tried her best to care for them but ultimately made the heartbreaking decision to allow them to find new homes where they could enjoy the comfort, love, and stability they truly deserved.

When Olly arrived, we were told that he had previously fallen from a 6ft wall which left him with some medical needs. He is doubly incontinent, meaning he leaks both urine and faeces. He has some weakness in his back legs and he walks with an abnormal gait, but the good news is that he isn’t in pain and gets around just fine in his own special way.

Olly has spent the last several months in a foster home and he has come on in leaps and bounds! He is a determined boy who doesn’t let his disability hold him back. He is fully mobile around the home and his incontinence is easily managed with disposable male wraps and washable nappies. He’s very compliant and this is quite easy to manage, with few accidents even overnight.

Olly is one of the most loving dogs you'll ever meet. He adores human company and loves to be around his person. He gets along well with the resident dogs in the home and is fine with the cat too. Olly’s ideal forever home would be one where there was another kind dog for company for him and who wouldn’t mind sharing a bed with him. We would consider homing him as an only dog in the right circumstances, but he doesn’t like being left alone so his human would need to be with him all of the time.

Olly loves to explore the garden and enjoys trips out in a doggy buggy and traveling in the car. He is happiest when he’s curled up on the sofa, snoozing next to his human. He sleeps quietly all night and absolutely loves his food!

Olly gets around incredibly well, his fosterers did try him with a doggy wheelchair but he wasn’t very keen and much preferred to get around by himself. He is currently attending hydrotherapy sessions to work on strengthening his legs and has responded really well to this and can stand on his back legs for short periods now. It would be wonderful if his new family could continue this. Olly is also taking Yumove supplements and doing well with them.

Olly is such a character and everyone who meets him falls for his charms. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will fill your heart with joy, then Olly could be the one for you.

Olly's Diary

  • Olly has been in foster care here for 4 months now, and has come on in leaps and bounds. A very determined terrier, he does not let his disability hold him back despite his spinal cord injury and is fully mobile around our house. Olly is incontinent of both urine and faeces, but we now easily manage this with disposable male wraps and washable nappies. He’s very compliant and this is quite easy to manage, with few accidents even overnight.

Olly loves human company and likes to be around his person (he’s a bit of a ladies man!!) most of the time. He is also comfortable with our resident dogs, and his ideal forever home would be with another dog for company, who doesn’t mind sharing a bed. He could possibly be an only dog, but doesn’t like being left alone so would need his human around or have someone else with him all of the time.

Olly loves exploring the garden, trips out in a doggy buggy and traveling in the car. He’s also at his happiest on the sofa next to his human snoozing his time away. He sleeps quietly all night and is food mad!! We use a slow feed bowl, and observe him eating around our dogs to stop him stealing!

We have tried Olly with a wheelchair but he really wasn’t keen, preferring to get around under his own steam. We are currently attending some dog hydrotherapy and physiotherapy to strengthen Olly’s back legs and he has responded really well to this, gaining in strength and actually being able to stand on his back legs for short periods. If his forever family could continue this, that would be ideal but isn’t essential. Olly has also responded really well to Yumove supplements (non prescription).

Olly is such a character and everyone who meets him falls for his charms. Please don’t let his disability define him, as he certainly doesn’t.

  • Olly has been in foster now since mid December and is the sweetest soul you could ever meet. He now has a wheelchair and is learning to use this to get around outside. Olly is amazing at mobilising inside the house and either pulls himself around on his front legs or can take a few steps on all four legs. His back legs certainly do not stop him getting around and I sometimes struggle to keep up with him!

Olly now has his incontinence managed well with pads/nappies and is very compliant with nappy changes. He adores food and is the most affectionate dog you could ever meet. He sleeps all night and likes a ride in his buggy!

In the right circumstances Olly could be ok as an only dog, as he’s very attached to his humans. He would need human company most of the time then though, as he’s very attached and doesn’t like being left all alone. He mixes well with dogs of all sizes and is fine with our cat. Olly is the most special of little chaps and will make someone so lucky in his forever home.

  • Olly is one of 12 little dogs who have come to Many Tears as part of an emergency rescue situation. They have all been owned and loved by a lady who sadly lost her home and had a difficult time with her mental health. She lived for her dogs but had nowhere to go with them. Things reached crisis point when all the dogs were living in a small caravan with no electric or running water, in freezing conditions. The dogs were frightened, either hiding away or barking with worry.

The lady tried everything she could to give the dogs the life they deserved but was unable to do so and knew the only way to show them she loved them for one last time was to allow them to live with families who could give them the warm, stable and loving environment they need.

We agreed to take the dogs and we also took the lady somewhere she would be safe, warm and cared for. They are all older dogs so most need to see the vet for dentals but we are determined to help this lady by finding the dogs the wonderful homes they deserve as soon as we can. The dogs have been through so much and they need to settle down and enjoy their twilight years.

Olly is such a lovely little older man. Sadly he is doubly incontinent so he does leak both urine and faeces. He has arrived to us with weakness in his back legs and does walk with a very abnormal gait. We were told that he fell off a 6ft wall in the past and that his legs have never been the same. He has had a thorough assessment with our vet and they cannot find any physical reason why he walks this way, but he doesn't seem to be in pain and gets around very well. He hasn't had much exercise and so his muscles have also weakened. Olly would benefit from a gentle introduction to exercise and perhaps some physio but this may not make a difference to the way he walks. Although this doesn't bother him at the moment, his adopters would need to be aware that any treatment relating to this condition would not be covered by insurance. Olly has also had 5 teeth extracted by our vet.

Olly will come up to you and will crawl onto your lap for a cuddle. All he wants is to be loved and loves the ladies! Olly hates being left alone and needs someone to scoop him up and help him feel safe. With lots of love and TLC he will shine
