Shangrila has recovered well from her surgery and is doing a lot better. She’s a super sweet girl who’s growing in confidence. The more she gets to know you the more her typical beautiful Shepard personality comes out. In the yard she loves following you around and can be a little cheeky gently mouthing you for some attention. I believe this purely her communicating to you the she wants your attention. It’s not a big concern of mine and it’s something that is easily managed with a bit of training and a lot of love in her forever home.

Shangrila Is Ready for Her New Beginning
Shangrila is a 3-year-old female German Shepherd who has come to us from a breeder and is now looking for a kind, experienced home where she can truly begin her life. This stunning girl has never lived in a home before, so everything from household sounds to simple routines will be new to her. She will need gentle guidance as she learns skills like house training and gains confidence in her surroundings.
Since arriving, Shangrila has had surgery to remove a large bladder stone, and we’re pleased to share that she has recovered well. She is now on a special urinary diet to help prevent further stones, and this will need to continue in her new home. While she is doing brilliantly, any recurrence of bladder stones would be considered a pre-existing condition and will not be covered by standard pet insurance. Her adopters should be aware of this and be prepared to monitor her health with the support of their vet.
Despite her uncertain start, Shangrila is a sweet and gentle girl who is slowly coming out of her shell. She can be timid at first, but once she gets to know you, her affectionate Shepherd nature shines through. She enjoys following people around the yard and has started gently mouthing to ask for attention, a sign that she’s beginning to feel safe and wants to connect. This behaviour is her way of communicating and can be gently managed with time, positive reinforcement, and loving consistency.
Shangrila walks quite nicely on a lead and will benefit from continued support to build her confidence on walks. She relies on the companionship of other dogs and would be happiest in a home with a calm, confident resident dog who can help her adjust and offer reassurance.
She would be best suited to an adult-only home, at least to begin with, where she can settle into a calm and predictable routine. As her confidence grows, this can be reassessed depending on the situation.
Shangrila also has her travel documentation and is ready to start her next chapter. With love, patience, and the right environment, this beautiful girl will continue to flourish and show just how loyal and loving German Shepherds can be. If you can offer Shangrila the time she needs to trust and thrive, she will reward you with a lifetime of gentle companionship.
Shangrila's Diary

-
Shangrila is a gorgeous lady that has come to us from a breeder to start her new journey. Shangrila is a very sweet girl but is a little timid at the moment and relies heavily on her kennel friends. Therefore, we believe she would benefit from a resident dog in the home to look to for comfort and support as she settles into her new home. Shangrila will require a nice and calm home while she learns all about confidence and home life. She would also benefit from an adult only home that can offer her this environment, but can be reassessed after she has had time to settle. Shangrila has not had a chance to live in a home just yet so she will need her adopters to be understanding while she learns new skills such as house training. Shangrila does walk on a lead quite nicely but will need her new adopters to continue working with her on this to build her confidence. Shangrila is a very sweet girl that we are hopeful will come out of her shell soon, and let her personality shine. Shangrila has a travel document.
When Shangrila arrived with us, she was showing some signs of discomfort and squatting to pee a lot. She visited our vets for an ultrasound where they found she had a large bladder stone. She has had surgery to remove this and is recovering well, but her adopters would need to be aware that should this recur in future it would not be coverable by insurance. Shangrila has started eating a special urinary food and will need to continue this in her new home.
