  • Human family requirements

I need an adult only home where I can feel safe, loved and settle into my new home.

  • Other pet requirements

I need a resident dog to help me feel safe. I've never met cats so I'm unsure!

  • House and garden requirements

I’m frightened and will need a secure home and a garden to learn about being outside.

  • Out and about requirements

I am too scared to go for walks yet but maybe we can practice in the garden?

  • Training needs

I have never lived in a home so I will need help to learn house training.

  • Medical issues

I have been spayed and am ready to find my forever home!

Haisley is a beautiful Cavapooo who has come from a breeder to find her forever home. When Haisley arrived with us, she absolutely broke our hearts. She was just so worried and overwhelmed and was completely shut down. She would sit in a corner shaking when you would approach her and was just a very sad girl.

Fast forward and couple of weeks and sweet little Haisley has made SO much progress. She's still a very worried girl, but you will now find her sitting at the front of her kennel playing with toys instead of hiding away like she used to do. She has also discovered the joy of the play yard and will now run around with her canine pals having fun! She is still very worried about humans and won't choose to approach us just yet, but she is making progress every day.

Haisley will be looking for a calm and quiet, adult only home where there was at least one other gentle and kind resident dog to help her build confidence and show her the way as she has never lived in a home before. Her adopters will need to be kind and understanding as she settles in and learns all about new skills like house training. She has never walked on a lead before and so will need to practice first around the home and garden until she is confident enough to venture into the outside world.

Haisley is definitely a project dog and it’s going to take a lot of time and work to get her anywhere close to being a ‘normal’ dog, but it will be so rewarding to see her reach new milestones and make progress.

Haisley's Diary

  • Haisley has been on my section for about a month now and thankfully she’s made huge progress within herself and her inner confidence. When she first arrived at the rescue, I was shown a video of her trembling with fear all over when she was in one of our play yards for the first time. It broke my heart and I knew I had to meet her. After a couple of weeks she got moved over to me and she was still extremely shut down for the first couple of days, but luckily my dogs completely took her under their wing and showed her that she didn’t need to be afraid. She’s gone from staying in the back of her kennel all day every day, to playing with toys at the front, and from sitting in the corner of the yard fearing for her life, to running around with her friends with her tail in the air. It’s been SO lovely to see.

So even though there has been a lot of positive progress, Haisley’s fear of humans is still very strong and she still doesn’t choose to come close to me. If I ever need to pick her up or handle her for any reason, I have to get her in the back of her kennel where she’ll hop into one of the beds and freeze. She’s very good at letting you pick her up and do whatever you need to do, but it’s still a very scary experience for her so this is the main thing I’ve been working on with her.

Today for the first time I gave Haisley a bath and mini groom. I had no expectations, but she made me really proud. She was very nervous of course, but she didn’t freak out over the water or the hair dryer like a lot of scared dogs do at first. Instead, she just sat still and accepted everything I did to her with no fuss whatsoever.

Haisley is definitely a project dog and it’s going to take a lot of time and work to get her anywhere close to being a ‘normal’ dog. Her future adopters are going to need to have all the patience and understanding in the world, and most importantly, perseverance. She will get there eventually, but you can’t give up on her.. that’s the last thing she needs.

Haisley is breaking our hearts, she is overwhelmed to find herself in new surroundings and is shut down and uncertain about this world she has never seen before. Haisley finds comfort in her kennel friends but is still very worried and will go to a corner shaking when you approach. Despite her fear of humans, Haisley is easy to handle and has let us check her over to make sure she is okay and give her the care she needs. There must be at least one very gentle and kind resident dog to help her build confidence and show her the way as she has never lived in a house before. Haisley needs an adult only household where she can settle in at her own pace and settle in a calm quiet environment. She will need a helping paw with learning to walk on a lead, toilet training and adjusting to house sounds she may have never heard before such as the TV and hoover. With love, patience, and a kind companion by her side, she will blossom into the loyal and loving dog she was always meant to be!
