Meet Clover, our special girl!
This adorable 2 year old Cocker Spaniel is searching for a loving home where she can thrive. Previously adopted, Clover was returned due to guarding issues, so we are seeking an experienced, adult only household that can provide her the guidance and support she needs. She can be rehomed as an only dog or with a resident dog/s
Clover is currently in a loving foster home with a member of staff, and here are some wonderful insights from her foster mum!
- She loves other dogs and would thrive in a home where she can be socialized daily.
- Clover is very gentle when taking treats and can walk to heel if asked, showing her eagerness to please.
- Clover has made great progressin meeting new people and is much more comfortable in social situations now.
- When she wants some alone time, she goes to her bed, demonstrating her understanding of personal space.
If she grabs something she shouldn’t, she’s willing to swap it for a treat, showing her adaptability.
She can sit and wait on command, and while she loves toys, playtime is structured to ensure a positive experience without any guarding tendencies. We don’t play with her toys with her, we allow her to do her own thing.
Clover is house trained and comfortable being left alone for 4-6 hours. She does not like being left in a crate.
She is not allowed on any furniture to keep structure in her day to day routine and reduce the chance of her guarding in her new home. She does not guard her bed.
Clover loves receiving affection and will ‘go and lay down’ on command if asked.
Clover deserves a special home where she can feel secure and loved. If you have experience with resource guarding and a heart ready to open up to a sweet, playful pup, she may be the perfect match for you. Let’s find Clover the forever home she deserves!

Clover, A Little Star Ready to Shine
Clover is a beautiful 2-year-old Cocker Spaniel who is looking for a special home to call her own. Clover originally came to us from a home due to guarding issues with food. She was briefly adopted but sadly returned when she showed more extreme guarding behaviours in the home.
However, thanks to the love and support of her dedicated foster mum, Clover has truly blossomed. She is currently thriving in an experienced foster home and has made wonderful progress. Clover now shows that, with the right guidance and structure, she can be a truly delightful and loyal companion.
Clover loves the company of other dogs and would enjoy living alongside a calm and friendly resident dog, although she could also be happy as an only dog with plenty of social opportunities. She is very gentle when taking treats, can walk beautifully to heel when asked, and happily sits and waits for her meals. She has even learned to swap toys and items for treats, showing just how willing and adaptable she is when given the chance.
While she still enjoys her toys, her play is structured to avoid any feelings of worry or guarding. Clover knows to take herself off to her bed when she wants some quiet time and importantly, she does not guard her bed in foster.
Clover is house trained, comfortable being left for 4–6 hours, but does not enjoy being crated, so a home where she has freedom and structure without a crate will suit her best. She is not allowed on furniture in her foster home, which helps maintain clear and positive boundaries for her.
Although Clover needed a lot of understanding early on, she has proven that with experienced owners who are confident setting gentle but firm boundaries, she can thrive. For this reason, we are looking for an adult-only home, with no children, where her needs will continue to be respected.
Clover is a sweet, playful girl with a sensitive heart. She loves affection and will happily lie down on command when asked. She is ready to start her next chapter with a family who will celebrate her progress and continue to help her feel safe, secure, and loved.
If you have experience with resource guarding and a heart full of patience and kindness, Clover could be the perfect companion you have been waiting for.

Clover originally came to us from a home and was adopted for a short period of time but was returned as she was displaying behaviours such as resource guarding in the home. Out and about on walks she's the most perfect girl and wants nothing more than to sniff around and go on adventures; she even has the best re-call! Clover loves nothing more than to play with her favourite toy which is a tennis ball and run up and down the stream chasing it. However, when she has her ball, it is important to ensure that you have something tasty etc.. chicken, beef or turkey to make sure she'll exchange the ball for the treat.
In kennels Clover can be a little difficult, she guards her bed and also doesn't like to share her food. When she is fed we tell her to sit and wait, place the bowl on the floor and then walk totally away and don't return until she's walked away from the bowl. If she's to have any treats they are small and easy to eat so it doesn't give her the chance to guard them. Sometimes when I go in to bring Clover out, she runs to her bed and starts to growl, very carefully I walk in and slip a lead around her neck and give her a little tug and out she comes.
When she's out and about she's absolutely fine to have cuddles and strokes from everybody. Little Clover is muzzle trained and she wears this very well, she's also been groomed and clipped by the groomer and she behaved extremely well (muzzled of course). I think to ensure her new owner and Clover are safe, we are looking for an adult only home, with no visiting children and where her new people will NOT allow her on the sofa, or allow her on any beds or furniture other than her own. She would live happily in someone's kitchen or a well heated conservatory as this will give her less to guard, if she is to find a home like this, then being walked twice a day is when she would get her strokes and cuddles. If you are looking for a dog to sit in the living room with then clover is NOT the dog for you.
Clover bonds very quickly with people, and it's very important her beautiful look doesn't fool people. Clover can get bored easily on her own and would prefer to have another dog in the home that is not overly playful and has the same calm demeanour as she does, but one that would enjoy a walk along side her and help to give her reassurance that she is safe. Clover does come to life around other dogs and would love to feel the assurance and safety of another canine friend in the home. If there is to be another dog in the home, it is important that boundaries are set with both dogs and that their beds and personal space are provided as well as not having toys laying around where she feels that she needs to protect them.
She's looking for a very special home adult home, where there are no visiting children and with someone who has experience with resource guarding who will continue to work with her and encourage her to abide by boundaries.
