A Gentle Soul Ready for Her Second Chance

Mocha is a 4-year-old Bichon Frise cross Shih Tzu who has come to us from a breeder to begin a new chapter in life. This gentle little girl has never lived in a home before, and while she's made some progress since arriving, she’s still feeling very unsure and overwhelmed. Life in kennels is proving a bit much for her sensitive nature, and we’d love to see her find the calm, reassuring home she so deeply deserves.

Mocha is very wary of people and still finds human interaction a little frightening. When approached, she will often try to flee, but if you give her time and move slowly, she’ll allow herself to be picked up without fuss. This tells us that, deep down, Mocha wants to trust she just doesn’t quite know how yet. With patience, kindness, and time, she will continue to blossom.

Because of her timid nature, Mocha is looking for an adult-only home that can provide her with peace and predictability. She will need at least one kind, confident resident dog to help guide her and show her the ropes of home life. Having another dog around will help reassure her that the world isn’t so scary and that people can be gentle and loving.

Mocha has never worn a harness or walked on a lead, so this will be something her adopters will need to take slowly, starting in the safety of the garden and building her confidence step by step. She will also need help with house training, as everything about living in a home will be new for her.

Health-wise, Mocha had four teeth removed at the time of her spay, as well as a small lump that our vets believe was a harmless cyst. She also has a slightly undershot jaw, which doesn’t affect her day-to-day life. Her coat shows signs of hormonal alopecia, but with good nutrition and now that she’s been spayed, we expect to see improvement over time.

Mocha may need a little extra time to find her feet, but once she does, she’ll be a deeply rewarding companion for someone with a gentle heart and a patient soul. She's been waiting quietly for someone to see the quiet beauty within her. Could that someone be you?

Mocha's Diary

  • Sweet little Mocha has been at the rescue for 2 months now, bless her. She has made a little progress during this time, but I think she finds kennel life a bit overwhelming so she’s struggling to let her guard down. She is definitely more confident than she was when she first arrived, but she’s still wary of us humans and our intentions. She will run away when I approach her, but then she’ll usually hop into one of the beds for me to pick her up. She doesn’t like it, but as long as I’m slow and calm with her she’ll allow me to with no issues.

Mocha would really appreciate a calm and quiet home with at least 1 kind resident dog to be her best friend and her guide. I think she probably will be quite startled when she first gets home as everything will be so new to her, so her adopters will need to be very patient with her and understand her worries and fears. It may take her a little while to settle, but I am confident she will get there eventually in the right home. She’ll just need to be given lots of time and TLC.

Please don’t keep this little darling waiting for too much longer. It’s her time to start a new life and have a family for the first time .. it’s the least she deserves after everything she’s been through.

  • Mocha has come to us from a breeder to find her forever home. She is a very worried girl who is quite overwhelmed to find herself here at the moment and is very worried about being handled. Mocha's first instinct is to run away and flee, so she will need a very secure garden to keep her safe. She will be looking for a calm and quiet, adult only home and would benefit from adopters who have experience with scared ex-breeding dogs. She will need at least one other kind and confident resident dog in her new home to help her settle in and take her under their wing and reassure her that everything is okay and human hands can be kind. She has never lived in a home before so everything will be very new to her and she will need kindness and understanding as she settles in and learns all about home life as well as new skills like house training. She has never worn a harness or walked on a lead before and so will need to build up to this by first practicing in the home and garden until she builds up confidence. Mocha is a very sweet girl and with time, love and kindness she will start to come out of her shell and will let her personality shine through.

Mocha had 4 teeth extracted at the time of her spay as well as a small lump removed which our vets believe to be a cyst. She has some hormonal alopecia, but with good nutrition and now she has been spayed, this should start to grow back. She also has a slightly undershot jaw, but this doesn't effect her
