Blossoming in the Sunshine

Merlina is a 7-year-old cavapoochon who came to us from a breeder. She had never lived in a home before, and when she first arrived, she was very timid and unsure of the world around her. But after just a week in a loving foster home, Merlina is already showing how beautifully she’s beginning to blossom.

She’s a quiet, gentle little girl who adores the company of other dogs, especially the calm Cavaliers in her foster home. She loves to snuggle up next to them and finds real comfort in their presence. Because of this, she’ll need a kind resident dog in her forever home to help her feel safe and supported.

Although she’s still a little hand-shy and can be nervous when approached, Merlina is slowly beginning to trust. She now follows her fosterer around the house, gently sniffs and licks hands, and chooses to lie nearby on the sofa. She’s starting to accept strokes and is showing such bravery as she learns that kindness and gentle words are for her too.

Merlina is fully clean in the house, quiet overnight, and absolutely loves spending time in the garden. It’s her favourite place to be, sniffing, mooching, doing zoomies, and lying contentedly in the sun. She hasn't started lead and harness training just yet, so this will need to be introduced slowly and gently in her new home.

As she came from a breeder, Merlina is still learning about life in a home. Her adopters will need to help her continue with house training if needed, and support her as she gets used to new experiences. She would be best suited to a calm, adult-only home where she can settle at her own pace and build her confidence gradually.

Merlina had 8 teeth removed at the time of her spay and also had a small fatty lump taken off. She has very low grade luxating patellas, his doesn’t currently cause her any problems and may improve naturally as she builds muscle through gentle exercise. This will not be covered on insurance if she needs treatment in the future.

Merlina is a sweet and special girl with so much love to give. With patience, kindness, and the right doggy companion by her side, she will continue to grow into the happy and trusting companion she’s already showing she can be.

Merlina's Diary

  • Merlina has been in foster for a week now. She’s settled in so well and absolutely loves being with my three Cavaliers, especially snuggling up to them their calm temperaments really suit her.

She’s a lovely, gentle, quiet girl and a real joy to foster. She’s such a good girl and so brave. Although she’s hand-shy and a little skittish, this is slowly improving. While she can still be a bit anxious when I approach, she will now sniff or gently lick my hand. She chooses to lie next to me on the sofa and follows me around the house. She’s starting to trust me and feel more comfortable, and I’m now able to stroke her.

She’s clean in the house, quiet overnight, and absolutely loves the garden. She enjoys snoozing on the sofa next to me or the dogs, and adores dog treats, which she takes so gently from your hand.

She LOVES being in the garden, mooching, sniffing, exploring the bushes, chilling, doing zoomies, and lying in the sun! Thanks to this lovely sunny weather, we've been able to spend lots of time outside.

She’s 100% clean in the house and toilets as soon as she's let outside. I haven’t tried lead and harness training yet.
