Truso is a lovely boy who shouldn’t be back in kennels after living in a home for 10 years. Unfortunately his previous owners felt they could no longer cater to his needs. Truso at the grand age of 10 is definitely still young at heart and if he could play ball all day he would. He absolutely loves to play fetch, he does bark a lot but this is only to either have your attention or to pick up a ball and throw it for him. He can be very affectionate, and enjoys a fuss. Being in a home for so long to end up in kennels in his golden years is heartbreaking when he hasn’t really done anything wrong. He just craves attention and wants to be in your presence whether that’s playing with him or fussing him. Truso had a scab on his left leg that our vets tried to put cream on and he growled a little and didn’t feel comfortable with the vets putting this cream on. However, he was a very good boy and allowed us to put a muzzle on him so that we were able to put cream on his legs. Truso would be best suited as an only dog in an adult only home, although he can go with another kind resident dog. Truso really shouldn’t be here after spending 10 years in a warm, comfy home. Please don’t keep him waiting to much longer.

A Loyal Heart Looking for One Last Forever
Truso is a very handsome 10-year-old Collie cross Labrador who has found himself back at Many Tears through no fault of his own. Originally adopted from us as an 8-week-old pup, this gentle soul spent a full decade in a loving home before circumstances changed and his family sadly felt they could no longer meet his needs. Understandably, Truso was overwhelmed to return to kennels after so long, but he is beginning to settle and remind us all of what a wonderful companion he truly is.
Truso is young at heart and still full of life. His favourite game is fetch, and he would happily spend hours chasing a tennis ball. He can be quite vocal, especially when he’s excited or trying to get your attention, and he's a clever lad who has learned that barking can bring rewards. Because of this, Truso will need experienced adopters who are willing to work gently and consistently with him using positive reinforcement to help guide him towards calmer, quieter habits.
He is incredibly affectionate and thrives on companionship, whether it’s through play or simply enjoying a fuss. After so many years in a warm and familiar home, being in kennels has been a tough adjustment. What Truso longs for now is a quiet, adult-only home where he can feel safe, secure, and loved again.
Truso would prefer to be the only animal in the home. He isn’t keen on sharing his space with other dogs and can be reactive when out walking, so adopters will need to help him navigate this with patience and understanding. He loves his walks and would suit an active home where he can enjoy daily adventures and plenty of mental stimulation.
In his past, Truso did show some anxious behaviours and had a few incidents involving nipping, though these occurred several years ago. His previous owners noted that he mellowed significantly with age. He finds vet visits particularly stressful and may require sedation to help him cope, but he’s a good boy who, with reassurance, can get through it. For example, when he recently needed cream on a sore patch, he calmly accepted a muzzle and let us treat him without a fuss.
Truso has a few harmless fatty lumps, called lipomas, which don’t require treatment, but it’s important to know that these will be considered pre-existing conditions and may not be covered by pet insurance.
This lovely boy is believed to be house trained but may need a little time to adjust and settle into his new routine. With time, patience, and lots of love, Truso will no doubt flourish again. He is a loyal, affectionate companion who just needs someone to believe in him and offer him the chance to enjoy his golden years in comfort and peace.
If you have experience with sensitive dogs and the space in your heart and home for an older gentleman who still loves to play, please consider giving Truso the second chance he so deeply deserves.

Truso is a very handsome older gentleman who has recently found his way back to us after his adopters sadly felt they could no longer meet his needs. Originally adopted from us as an 8 week old puppy, it’s understandable that Truso is feeling a bit overwhelmed to be back. However, he’s beginning to settle in and is showing us what a lovely soul he is. Since his return, Truso has been a friendly and affectionate boy who enjoys attention and fuss from the staff.
Truso does have some prior history of displaying anxious behaviours and did have a couple of incidents in the past involving nipping. These did take place several years ago, and his previous owners noted that he has mellowed significantly with age. He finds vet visits particularly stressful and requires sedation to help him cope with them.
Due to this, Truso is looking for a calm and quiet, adult only home with no visiting children. He’ll need experienced adopters who understand complex dogs and can offer him the structure and reassurance he needs. Please don’t be put off, Truso really is a sweet, loving dog who simply needs the right environment to shine.
Truso would prefer to be the only animal in the home, as he doesn’t enjoy sharing his space. We’ve been told he can be reactive to other dogs while out walking, but this is something we will continue to assess and work on with him. He does enjoy his walks and outdoor adventures and would love an active home where he can be both mentally and physically stimulated. He's especially fond of tennis balls and would play ball all day!
Truso can be quite vocal at times and so will need adopters who will work on this with him. He is a very clever boy who learned that if he barked, his adopters would give him something to keep him quiet and so he then learned that barking came with rewards. He liked being rewarded, so would carry on barking! He will need adopters who are happy to work on this with him and will use positive reinforcement to help him understand that quiet behaviour is even more rewarding.
Having lived in a home his whole life, we believe Truso is house trained, though he may need a little refresher as he settles into a new environment.
Truso does have a few lumps, which were sampled by his previous vet and found to be fatty lipomas requiring no treatment.
All in all, Truso is a wonderful companion who, in the right home, will flourish. With experienced, patient adopters, we know this lovely boy still has so much love to give and we hope he won’t be waiting long to find his perfect match.
