22-04-20 Annalize is a 11 year old Northern Inuit Cross who originally came to us from a breeder quite some time ago. Poor Annalize has had a tough time, when she arrived with us we discovered that not only was she completely blind, but she was also pregnant. She moved straight to a foster home to raised her babies and recieve some much needed TLC. Sadly, she recently developed an ulcer in one eye and had to have it removed - but she is so much happier following this.
When Annalize arrived her fur was matted and her skin was red raw, but with time and love from her fosterers she is now looking amazingly fluffy again and her skin has healed. Annalize will need another kind resident dog in her new home and owners who are around all of the time.

UPDATE FROM HER FOSTERER

Beautiful Annalize has not found her forever adopted home yet, after so very long in a foster home. She first came here after having puppies in foster, after being found to be pregnant after arriving at the rescue. She had lived her life on a chain and her neck was red raw when we took her into foster, and it took a long time to heal, but it did heal well.
Since being in foster she has had one eye removed and there is a possibility she may in time - need the other one removing, so please be aware of the cost as this would not be covered by insurance.
Annalise needs another dog or two in her new home as she would not cope on her own. She adores cats too and would love it if she had cat brothers or sisters!
She has to have someone around all the time really - as she has to know her humans are close or she gets very upset even when you are in bed! She currently sleeps in a room with the other dogs, but I'm in a room separated from hers with only a stair gate, so she knows I'm only feet away from her.
Annalize is not totally house-trained after 2 years so we don't see that changing, she will be clean most of the time in the day as long as you let her out at regular intervals. She nearly always toilets inside at night though, so you would have to accept that if you were to adopt her.
Annalize cannot be crated as she hates being restrained in ANY way. This also comes into play when she is in a room, she has to be able to walk around the house freely and if you close a door she will scratch at it, so this needs to be considered in lots of scenarios day to day and how you would manage this for her to be free.
There is a lot to tell you about Annalize and she is a very big part of anyone's life in many many ways, SHE doesn't live with you - YOU live with HER!
I have to go now as she has dug another hole in the garden she's certainly one heck of a girl !

14-05-21 UPDATE

Thank you to Andrew Lamnea Photography for taking some lovely photos of Annalize!
Annalize is hoping the good and dry weather will come back as she doesn't like getting her feet wet, and even less getting them dried! Annalize is in the dog house at the moment as she's dug three new holes in the garden, she's a right naughty monkey! Annalize is - as you can see a beautiful fluffy dog but she does take some looking after, as any large blind dog of her breed can, and she has to have her humans around all the time or gets stresse. There are lots of things to know about her routine which we will discuss at length with any intrested applicants of course. Well Annalize is ready for her groom now, so I'm off for today, bye everyone!

27-05-21 UPDATE
Annalize is going to have a bath today, not sure how well that's going to go!
We went out on a lovely walk earlier and she really loved sniffing the grass and hedgerows, she likes to go where she can take her time as she is a very nervous girl at times being blind, and we only let her off in a totally enclosed secure space and even then - you have to be careful because if she takes off running she can bump into something and hurt herself.
She is in the kitchen where it's cool today as she doesn't like the heat much, only for a quick in and out walk round the gardens here, she loves - lying in her day bed though in the cool kitchen with the door open and the breeze blowing in her fur, what a PRINCESS !

03-06-21 UPDATE

Annalize has been finding it hard to settle in the heat, so the big fan is out just for her as well as the small top windows open at night. It's much cooler today so we went for a walk.  She has her bed in the cool tiled kitchen in the day.  We have filled in the holes she has dug in the garden again - wonder how long they will last filled in this time! Another groom is on the cards later as she is so very very fluffy! She's not a fan of being groomed but it's a necessity or she gets matted.

16-07-21 UPDATE
Annalize actually lay outside for a little bit yesterday! This is totally unheard of all the time this girl has been with us, as she gets way too hot in the weather and stays indoors in the cool. It was nice to see her outside though for once.
Annalise does need a specific home with specific routines and free movement throughout the house to keep her cool at all times, and by moving freely around the house it keeps her happy too and not stressed by feeling confined at all. Well I'm off now to get her ladyship her breakfast!

22-07-21 UPDATE
Annalise has had her nails clipped today, she doesn't like it (surprise surprise!) but we got there in the end! She's been groomed again and she's looking a lot cooler and more comfortable today. I'm going to put her hair in a bird feeder, as it's so very fluffy and soft that they will think they are in a five star nest! Annalise is appreciating the breeze we have at the moment as it blows over her while she's flat out on the tiled kitchen floor.  thank goodness we don't have carpet it would be way too hot!

04-08-21 UPDATE
Foster mum said I have to stop digging the garden up as I had a upset tummy all over the hall last night! I don't think it was that - I think it was the pasta I helped my foster brother eat the other day!
If Annalize could speak I'm sure this would be her take on her upset tummy or something close! Annalize loves her food as much as life itself and you have to be very careful she only eats her own food - and what food suits her -as she has a sensitive tummy.

15-08-21 UPDATE
Hi Annalise here
It's raining today and to be honest I don't mind too much, in fact foster mum tells me off for standing out in it sometimes! Don't like my feet wet but don't mind the rain on my back. I've decided as it's been so hot lately even when raining - I will sleep in the bed in the hall as it's cooler.  Might go back into my bed in the living room when it gets colder I'll see! This is what im sure Annalise would say if she could speak, as she decides what bed and where she sleeps not you!

23-09-21 UPDATE
It will be time soon to get the fire out for Annalise in the kitchen as she likes to spend a lot of the day there right next to the fridge - and we don't believe that is a coinsidense! Annalise is a real foody bless her.
Annalise needs a specific home and you would really need to be able to accommodate all her likes and dislikes - not only because she's blind but because she is very very stubborn and gets very upset if she can't do what she wants and the way she wants to do it . Annalise will need another dog friend to live with but not too many dogs as she needs lots of room herself and can step on dogs sometimes when walking around  and some dogs can get upset and snappy if this happens to them. She loves cats though - so a couple of cats would be brill!

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

ADOPTION DETAILS

All dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation* and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

* Many Tears uses Vanguard to vaccinate their dogs.  However, this can sometimes be difficult to source at local vets so if you are adopting a dog or puppy that has only had one vaccination please be aware your vets may require you to start the course from the beginning.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
