28-05-2021 Arrow has has the hardest life and we are looking for that extra special home with lots of experience with scared dogs and who are prepared to put in the time and have the patience a boy like Arrow needs.  He originally came to us from Romanian and found a home but has sadly been returned after a short adoption.
Arrow can be very fearful in certain situations especially if he thinks something bad is going to happen.  We believe he has been very abused and roughly treated in the past and can be very fearful (especially  of men) at first.  However, once he has a bond with you he is very affectionate and becomes a different dog but it does take a bit of time.  Here with us he is happy to be groomed and gets all silly when having a 'bum scratch' but again this will take his new owner time to build that trust.
We are looking for a calm, peaceful home for Arrow where there are no children or visiting children as he finds them very overwhelming.  In the right home he will become the sweetest friend.  He is not very big (about the size of a cocker) and can live with cats and other dogs but gets on better with females so would prefer any other dogs in his new home to be girls. He could also be an only dog in the right circumstances.
If you think you can provide Arrow with the home he needs and are prepared to give him the time he needs to settle into his new life then please apply for him.

04-06-21 UPDATE

Arrow is still waiting for his forever home the more time you spend with him the more he loves you and gives you tons of kisses! He walks great in the lead and can be an only dog in the right home, he will need a calm environment to settle into. When Arrow gets to know you he is amazing, fun to be around and so happy.

10-06-21 UPDATE
Arrow is a real sweetheart once he trusts you. He hasn't had the best luck yet and he truly deserves for that to change. If you want a funny, loving, cute boy, then Arrow is the one for you. Just give him a chance to warm to you.

17-06-21 UPDATE
The photos of Arrow really don't do him any justice. He is such a handsome boy and is such a good boy too. When he warms up to you he is such a great companion. He walks very well on the lead and is curious about all the sounds and smells around him but will happily plod along with you. He seems very food motivated as he loves his treats, so it seems he could be trained easily.

28-06-21 UPDATE

Arrow has made huge progress with his confidence. He is a cheeky boy who is very playful and just adores those humans that he is very familiar with, he loves being picked up and will snuggle into one's neck for a cuddle. He is now confident enough to be walked by strangers, although he is more relaxed with females. We are looking for a home for Arrow with no resident or visiting children, a resident female dog(s) and with experienced dog owners who will understand that the transition from kennels to home life may be difficult for him. Once this amazing little dog puts his trust in you, he gives you his whole heart and will love you 'to the moon and back.'

27-07-21 UPDATE FROM A VOLUNTEER
I first met and walked Arrow a few months ago when he was a shy, scared boy who shook when a car would pass us and was unsure around me. The third time we met, he was a different dog. Since then every time I walk him, he shows me his loving, cheeky, fun side and how much he enjoys being out and in human company. He has the most adorable smile, takes everything in his stride and, as of yesterday, told me how much he loves a little piece of cheese! He lets me pick him up for a cuddle now and I feel so pleased that after all he has been through, he can trust us humans.
Living in a home would be new to him, however, I have noticed that every time I take him out for a walk he makes full use of the outdoor toilet facilities! I can pretty much time when I need to get the bag out of my pocket so I don't think house training would take long. He is a clever dog.
Every Monday, when I am there, I look forward to seeing Arrow and ask to walk him first. It would be fantastic though for him to not be there when I next visit, as it would mean this adorable boy will have found his forever home.

04-08-21 UPDATE FROM A VOLUNTEER
I arrived at the centre for my usual Monday walking slot and morning walk with Arrow. Although I only see him for an hour a week, he knows me now and was excited to see me. He is brilliant on the lead and shows how much he loves being out. Then we turned the corner into another lane and Arrow saw a man in bright yellow vest doing some repair work to the telephone line. I have no idea why this was so scary to him, the man was some distance away but he was terrified and had a meltdown. Obviously, I moved him away from the man as quickly as I could but even when he was out of sight, Arrow was still shaking and trying to run away. Whoever has this lovely boy will need to be aware that sometimes he will be very fearful of people and situations and this will take time and is something to be worked on. I sat with Arrow quietly for 10 minutes until he was calm and the positive I took from this episode is that he turned to me to keep him safe and snuggled into my lap. Once Arrow trusts someone, then he is so loving. He was fine for the rest of walk and when we arrived back, a group of 8 people were there waiting for the tour of the centre and he was fine and happy. I will never know what scared him so much.

ADOPTION DETAILS
If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation* and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

* Many Tears uses Vanguard to vaccinate their dogs.  However, this can sometimes be difficult to source at local vets so if you are adopting a dog or puppy that has only had one vaccination please be aware your vets may require you to start the course from the beginning.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
