If you are interested in adopting a dog that does not say it can be homed with a cat and wish us to cat test please let us know and we will be happy to do this.

27-05-2021 Jacko has arrived here in search of a home. He can be a very cuddly and loving boy with people he knows but is mistrustful of those he doesn't. Jacko also has a problem with his eyes which means he can only see shadows and he will bump in to you and objects.  This can make him defensive and we would only consider homing Jacko with a very experienced owner and where the is no children either living or visiting the home.  He already knows how to walk on a lead but can be a little wary when walking in new areas due to his limited vision so needs guidance particularly in small tricky areas. Although Jacko would be happy to share his new home with another dog he would need to be fed in a separate room as he can be possive over food.  In the right home he would be very happy to be an only dog. We will only consider homing Jacko in a rural location and with very experienced dog owners.

10-06-21 UPDATE

Although Jacko is mostly blind, he is so clever and uses your voice to navigate. He could be an only dog in the right circumstances. If he is with other dogs he needs them to be calm and not in his face, which is completely understandable. He is clean in his kennel and as smart as can be. All he needs is someone who is very experienced with dogs like him to love and care for him.

03-09-21 UPDATE
This is Jacko, I call him Jackson. We are looking for a very special home:

  • either as an only dog or with another calm dog if they are slowly introduced.
  • one person household.
  • very large garden or acerage where he can have total freedom off lead.
  • preferably rural home

Jackson is an amazing dog who has so much love to give. He is a total joy to spend time with. His sight impairment is no restriction when we are out and about, he can run like the wind and has very good recall. Although he has huge sight impairment, he is able to avoid running into light coloured objects opposed to dark, eg. he could mostly avoid running into our golden retrievers, but would run into our black newfoundland. Having the collie intelligence is so advantageous for our special boy, he is able to map out new areas quickly and is very alert to commands.

13-10-21 UPDATE

Jacko is a very special boy who is looking for a very special home. This song was recorded by one of our talented staff members, Richard Burman and we feel like it fits Jacko perfectly. We won't give up on him and we hope he will find an adopter who feels the same way.

04-12-21 UPDATE

Jackson is a super dog who I find so easy to look after, I even forget that he has huge sight impairment.  If you are a single person household, live in a rural area and have collie experience, please contact us. This dog is walked off lead in our secure field by many staff members, all report how affectionate and how obedient he is.

29-12-21 UPDATE

Jacko is a very special boy who really does need to be in a home as he’s been here for so long. As he’s blind and can be boisterous he will need a home without children and although can be an only dog and is on his own with us we would consider homing him with another dog after them meeting.
He loves his walks off lead in the field, come rain or shine there’s nothing he loves better than to have a run and roll over in the grass. He is very good at navigating around things once he’s learnt where everything is! You would be amazed how he runs to his kennel after being out. He can run down the steps, turn the corner, go around the gate, around a big box and walk through two more gates without hitting his head before finally reaching his kennel. What a star!
25-01-22 UPDATE

A special dog looking for a very special home. Jacko is mostly blind and he looking for:
  • Single person household
  • No cats or children
  • Experience with Collies and/or blind dogs
  • Rural/quiet location and appropriate garden
  • Preferably someone who is willing and able to come and meet Jacko a few times before adoption

A little bit about Jacko

  • 5 year old Male Border Collie
  • Is near enough blind, can only see shadows/light
  • Navigates his surrounds well when he’s familiar
  • Very kennel clean
  • Loves to go for adventures in the car
  • Brilliant recall, uses voice to navigate well
  • Loves to roll around and play
  • Would suit being an only dog but can live with other calm dogs

Jacko truly has taken the hearts of the staff at the centre. He gets overlooked as his requirements are more specific than the average dog.
He loves to run and explore in the fields and roll around. He can get around his kennel and play areas perfectly now he knows the lay out.
Jacko could live with another dog, providing that dog has a calm nature. We have been socialising him with other dogs and as long as they’re respectful then he is relaxed.
He is such an affectionate boy, he loves to roll on his back and have a fuss.
PLEASE if you know of anyone who may be able to meet his needs then share this post and help us find Jacko a home, he has been waiting for EIGHT months for the perfect match and it would mean the world to Jacko and his loyal supporters.

14-02-22 UPDATE

There isn’t enough words to describe how amazing Jacko is. He is truly a star, but yet he has spent so long in kennels, and it’s just not doing him good.
Jacko has poor vision and some behavioural issues, so needs an experienced home, but as someone who works alongside him, I can confidently say that his behaviour is something that is not difficult to work with once you learn his body language, and after a short while you will find yourself building a strong bond with this loveable boy.
Whenever he hears his favourite people, he quickly shimmies to the floor and flips all over the place for belly rubs and cwtches, and while he loves his creature comforts, Jacko absolutely adores anything that involves being out in nature.
Jacko is desperate to find an adult only home that can give him the life he deserves. With time, love and comfort, we are sure that he would be the most incredible companion, he just needs someone to give him the chance.

16-03-22 UPDATE

Jacko is still waiting for his forever home, and we’re sure the perfect person is out there for him. Believe me when I say that all of us staff would have happily scooped him up by now if we could have.
Jacko is amazing, he has the wiggliest bum that gets so excited when he meets someone he’s familiar with, and tosses and turns to greet you in the mornings. It’s a pleasure to see him everyday, but we know that it’s not the best environment for him to be in.
Jacko loves nothing more than having a good off-lead fun around our secure fields and his response to his name is impeccable! He loves to sniff out his surroundings and his true inner-pup comes alive when he’s out and about in nature.
Jacko needs an experienced home with someone who knows how to handle collies with impaired vision and some behavioural issues. From our updates, you can read that he needs a responsible handler, but once you earn his trust and understand that his behaviour doesn’t come from anything other than confusion, he is an absolute star.
How this boy is still with us is beyond us all, and we just know that he’s going to make someone very happy, and if you know anyone that could fit the criteria (no children, and no small furries), then we urge you all to tell them about this pure delight of a dog. Jacko could live as an only dog or with other dogs as long as he was slowly introduced to them.
Watching him grow has been incredible, but now it’s time for him to find his forever family and settle into nice home where he can experience the finer things in life.

05-04-22 UPDATE

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
