12-06-2021 Dear little Bessie is an extremely worried girl who has come from her breeder to find a loving home. She has no idea why we would want to be friends with her and will hide away as much as possible. She is not easy to pick up as she will back away in fear. She is going to take time and patience before she starts to actually want to be touched. Bessie will need at least one other dog in her new home to help boost her confidence and snuggle with her to help her relax. She will need an adult only, very calm home and someone who has good experience with worried dogs and is around most of the time to help her to settle into home life. She wont be the easiest dog to adopt but she will be one of the most rewarding and in time, when she begins to bloom, you will be so proud of how far she has come.

30-07-21 UPDATE
I’ve been working with Bessie for quite a while now and even though she’s still terrified of us humans, her confidence is improving every day and I’m starting to see a cheeky side emerging!!! A few days ago I could hear some funny noises coming from her kennel, so I snuck over to see what was going on and she was playing with one of her lovely kennel friends. This is such a normal behaviour for most dogs, but for dogs like Bessie it’s really not, so to see her allowing herself to let loose a little just absolutely melted my heart.
Since that day I’ve seen her playing a lot more, and she’s even starting to run around the sandschool with her tail in the air! I think it’s going to take Bessie a long time to trust us humans, but her love for other dogs is so strong I really believe it’s going to help her massively when she’s adopted. Bessie still won’t come near me, and she’ll always run into the back of her kennel when I walk in, so a very experienced home is still needed for this lovely girl. It’s not going to be easy and it’s going to take a LOT of time, patience and love, but I believe she will get there eventually. I think she’ll be a real cheeky sausage once she learns how to trust, and whoever ends up adopting her will feel things they’ve never felt before.
Adopting a terrified dog has it’s challenges, but the rewards you receive in return are next to none. This beautiful girl just needs a chance. So please, if you’re suitable, consider welcoming this lost soul into your family … I promise you won’t regret it.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation* and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.
* Many Tears uses Vanguard to vaccinate their dogs.  However, this can sometimes be difficult to source at local vets so if you are adopting a dog or puppy that has only had one vaccination please be aware your vets may require you to start the course from the beginning.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
