22-08-21 Princess is a sweet elkhound who has come from her breeder to find a loving home. She is a worried girl who has not seen much of the world before so is understandably worried about her new surroundings. She takes comfort from being around other dogs and so will definitely need at least one resident dog in her new home to sho her all about home life, be her friend and let her copy new skills such as house training and how to walk on a lead. Princess will need an experienced home where any children are older as she could feel overwhelmed by sudden noise and movements, Princess is a sweetheart and if you have never heard of an elkhound before please look them up as a breed before deciding to adopt - you will probably find theyre alot smaller than you are expecting! Come and meet our special Princess.

05-09-21 UPDATE

Since arriving here, Princess as made HUGE progress! She is now walking on a harness to and from the sandschool. She has even started coming up to me for a very brief fuss. Princess heavily depends on other dogs and will require a kind one in her new home. She is going to require a patient new owner who will slowly earn her trust. She is a truly special girl who has made me immensely proud to see how far she's come already.

18-09-21 UPDATE

Princess went on her second proper road walk today, she is obviously still nervous but this is such amazing progress for the dog who wouldn't leave the corner of her kennel. She sticks close to her kennel friends, to the point where she is touching them, but her kennel friends don't mind at all.
Her new home will need a resident dog that doesn't mind this behaviour as it is what she desperately tries to do at the moment, it's how she finds confidence and comfort.
There is a cheeky, playful dog underneath that thick layer of fear; someone just needs to help her uncover it, the fact that she's showing glimpses of that side to her in kennels is incredibly promising and heartwarming for me.
Also, she desperately needs a proper groom, so if any professional groomers could spare a few hours and come make her look even more beautiful, then that would be amazing.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation* and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

* Many Tears uses Vanguard to vaccinate their dogs.  However, this can sometimes be difficult to source at local vets so if you are adopting a dog or puppy that has only had one vaccination please be aware your vets may require you to start the course from the beginning.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
