If you are interested in adopting a dog that does not say it can be homed with a cat and wish us to cat test please let us know and we will be happy to do this.

19-04-22 Iona has come to us from a breeder to find her forever home. She is a lovely girl who can be a little nervous, but will approach you to say hello and let you stroke her. She would very much like a home with another dog who can be her friend and guide. She is a calm and gentle girl and we think with time and love she is going to blossom in to the most fabulous friend. She has never lived in a home before and so her adopters will need to be kind and patient as she learns about house training and home life.

19-05-22 UPDATE

Iona is such a lovely lady, who once she knows you she will jump up and want all the fuss in the world. She is still scared of new people and cowers from them but it doesn't take her long to warm to them! She goes for walks with volunteers, and they all report back that she was worried at first but then settles and is happy to have fuss. I think Iona depends on the other dogs confidence and so really she needs a resident dog to help her settle in. I really think Iona will be such a perfect companion! Her beautiful long ears get me every time I look at her. Iona cannot live with cats

30-05-22 UPDATE

Iona loves being outside, especially on the grass, where she sun bathes fully spread out.
She has an occasional wee on the door mat, but most of the time she knows to go outside to do her business. She has also worked out the dog flap too.
She responds to her name and comes to you when you call, or ask her to stop doing something.
She is having lots of fun with our 9 month old puppy, they like to spend time together.
Iona has travelled well in the two journeys she has taken.
Iona gets a little spooked by loud noises, but she is getting used to the sound of a teenager.
She sleeps well in her crate, with the door open, both overnight and if left for a couple of hours.
She is very brave, within only a few hours of arriving with us she was happy to be stroked, and even made her way up onto the sofa for more fuss.
She absolutely loves affection, she is very happy being held and cuddled.

20-06-22 UPDATE

Iona is loving home life. She likes nothing more than being able to lie on the grass and sun-bathe, even when there are a lot of things going on around her. She is still wary of new people, but is just cautious and nervy rather than scared. She wants to trust all humans, and every day, with every new human, she is learning that we are not to be frightened of, in fact, we are keen to make her feel loved. She is the first on the sofa of an evening, getting the best spot. There are no nerves at all when on the sofa, apart from very loud bangs coming from the TV. She has made friends with our 9month old puppy and they spend time investigating new corners of the garden together. Iona knows her name and will respond to instructions.

Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
