07-07-22 Fudge is a very handsome but very worried boy who has come from his breeder to find a loving home. He is extremely wary of new situations and takes time to warm to people as he has never had to trust humans before. If you push him too quickly or your expectations of him are too high then he can panic and if backed into a situation he could easily make the wrong decision as he is so worried. If you relax and go slow with this boy he will follow suit and start to relax around you and in time he is more open to being handled and will respond well to you. Fudge is a dog for an experienced dog owner who has spent time with scared dogs before and who isnt fazed by them but equally respects their need for careful, consistent kindness. He isn't able to be rehomed with children or where there are children who visit regularly. Fudge has a lot to learn and a really lovely heart, he just really doesnt have a clue what he should be doing and is finding the world a daunting place right now. With the right time, love and patience he is going to turn his life around, shed his fears and he wont believe his eyes when he finds out how wonderful his new life will be. If you can help him. please give him a chance.

03-08-22 UPDATE
I’ve been working with Fudge the whole time he’s been with us and he’s slowly but surely starting to come out of his shell with me. He is still hand shy so will flinch when I go to touch him, but he is a lot better than he was when he first arrived. He will approach me with a waggy tail now and give me a sniff, but that’s as far as he’s gotten so far. I don’t mind though, I don’t want to push him too far out of his comfort zone as I feel going at his pace is the right course of action to take with him.
He’s a very good boy with all of his kennel friends and loves to snuggle up in bed with them. He also shares his food with them and the toys that are in the play yard. He’s not that interested in the toys, but if you throw a ball he will go and see what it is. He would have never been introduced to toys before coming here, so it may take him a while to come around to them, or he may not ever like them at all. It’s sad when you think about it .. a life with no fun.
Fudge will need a very patient and understanding home with people who will give him the gentle guidance that he needs, and show him that the world isn’t as scary as he thinks it is. He’ll need to learn all the basics from house training to lead walking, and everything in between.
Having a resident dog in the home to follow around and copy will do him the world of good in these areas. He will more than likely be a bit overwhelmed in the home at first, but he’s never been inside one before so that’s to be expected. We just ask that you don’t give up on him, and you give him the time and the reassurance that he needs. He’s a very sweet boy who’s spent his whole life not being shown any love, so I think it’s about time he got his happy ever after .. don’t you?

Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
