15-07-22 Chaucer is a very worried little girl who has come from her breeder to find a loving home. She is a scared little lady who may have an old ulcer in her eye and our vet will take a look at this. She will scamper to get away from us when we approach her and will hide behind her bed because she has no idea what to expect from us at the moment. We will consistently be kind and hopefully she will get more used to us in time. Chaucer will need an experienced adopter who is confident but has infinite patience to help her make progress. She will need an adult only home where there is at least oone resident dog to boost her confidence and show her home skills such as walking on a lead and house training. Dogs like Chaucer arent ready made pets, they are a project but one so worthwhile that you will be filled with pride and love for this girl as she starts to shed her fears, relax and begin to love her new life.

10-08-22 UPDATE

I’ve been working with this cheeky little girl since she arrived and she has definitely stolen my heart. Even though she’s a small girl, she has the biggest character and makes me laugh every single day. Her confidence has improved a lot since she arrived and she now likes to approach me and give me lots of little kisses on my fingers. She is still hand shy so will flinch if I go to stoke her, but she’s getting there and is definitely a lot better than she was. She will run away when I approach her, but she’s very easy to pick up and handle. She’s a very sweet girl who is going to thrive in the right home and I think also keep her new adopters on their toes … so if anyone is looking for a cheeky little lady, this is the girl for you.
Chaucer will still need a resident dog in her new home to follow around and to copy. She’ll need to learn all the basics such as house training and lead walking, and having a doggy friend to learn from will do her the world of good. She will probably find home living quite overwhelming at first because everything will be completely brand new for her, but her new owners will need to understand this and be patient with her. Little things that are normal to most dogs such as the TV or even stairs, may take a little while for her to get used to. Just don’t give up on her .. she will get there.
Chaucer has spent her whole life in a kennel environment and I’m keeping everything crossed that someone will come and rescue her soon. Just imagine spending your whole life not knowing any love or kindness .. it just breaks my heart. Please don’t keep her waiting much longer.

Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
