14-12-22 Fergie is a magnificent, handsome GSD who has come to us to find a loving home. If you are looking for a big dog who is loyal, smart and friendly then stop right now and get your application is fast as he is very special! He has a big thick coat that will need regular brushing to keep him comfortable.
Fergie is needs to be homed as an only dog and needs a cat free home. He already knows how to walk on a lead and if he needs to learn about house training this should't take him long to pick up as he is a smart and confident boy. Fergie is gorgeous, affectionate and sweet and we cannot wait to see him trot off with his new, GSD experienced family.
Fergie has seen our vet and he has limited mobility in his hind legs and is on pain relief for this, which could be ongoing long term. This is something his adopters will need to be aware of as it would not be coverable by insurance in the future. Despite this he does still love to go on walks and doesn't let it hold him back. Fergie has a passport.
21-01-23 UPDATE
The most handsome German Shepherd I ever did see, Mr Fergie!! He is such an affectionate and loving big boy, the definition of a gentle giant. He adores fuss and cuddles and will walk up to you and nudge against you for some more loving.
He adores a walk, and walks beautifully on a lead and loves every human he meets! He can be a little strong on the lead when he sees another dog whilst on a walk, but with positive reinforcement when showing less and less interest he has improved so much! He is also kennel clean, so I believe he would adjust to being house clean very quickly!
Fergie would still need to be homed as an only dog, in a cat free home.
Fergie has been with us for far longer than he deserves and I cannot believe he hasn’t found his perfect home yet?! If you think you could provide this soppy big boy an amazing forever home, please fill an application for him you won’t regret it!
15-03-23 UPDATE
Fergie is one of the biggest teddy bears we have, he's so affectionate and cuddly and gentle with us. He can pull a bit on the lead though, but this can be sorted with the use of a halti. He does listen and does do as we ask, like if he sees another dog and you can see him getting ready to bark, he will listen and behave. As I understand it with his hips, there is no medical procedure for him, just pain relief, good quality joint aid and a comfy bed. We restrict his walking to short walks, but it doesn't stop him playing rough and tumble with his female kennel mate. If he was to be homed with another dog, it would need to be an easy going largish female. This is one great lad who I enjoy looking after

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
ADOPTION DETAILS
If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.
