21-12-2022 Sambucca has come to us from a breeder. When she arrived with us we discovered that she was pregnant and shortly after she gave birth to her puppies. She has been wonderful mum to her babies and now they are ready to find their forever home, Sambucca is ready to find hers too.
Sambucca was a very worried girl when she first arrived but has started to come out of her shell. Sambucca will need a calm and quiet, adult only home with someone with experience of scared ex-breeding dogs. She will need a home where there is at least one other confident dog to help her and who will allow her to cuddle up with them for comfort and support if she wants to. She has never been in a home so this is going to be overwhelming at first and she will need owners with plenty of time and patience to help her learn about house training etc.
Sambucca has learned all about lead walking but will need some more training with this to boost her confidence. In time and with owners who really understand her needs Sambucca will slowly start to flourish and become the happy girl she should have always been.

26-04-23 UPDATE
Sambuca/ Sammy is a happy girl who loves toys and playing with my other foster dog Ollie.
Sammy sleeps through the night on the sofa with Ollie. Sammy walks lovely on a slip lead with another dog at her side. Having said all of the above, Sammy doesn’t like being touched, she will sit close to you on the sofa but as soon as you go to smooth her she will fly off the sofa. She is terrified of being picked up and hates having a harness put on her. She has grown in confidence here in foster but it’s going to take time and lots of patience to get her used to human touch. She isn’t a lap dog but would make a wonderful companion for another dog and given time she will learn to love and trust her human.

04-05-23 UPDATE
Sammy has now learned all about home life and enjoys every minute, she loves her food and continues to enjoy toys and playing with the other dogs. She walks politely on a slip lead (she does run to her safe spot to have this put on) but doesn’t like the harness. Sammy needs a home with an active playful friendly dog, she would ideally love a good size garden as she does like to charge around. Sammy just needs time now and some one to very gently build up touching her daily, so it needs to be a home with some one who has plenty of time and someone who has owned dogs in the past.

24-05-23 UPDATE

Sammy is now happy in her own world.  She loves toys and playing with the others dogs and will now settle on the sofa and in the morning have a chin tickle.  She knows her name and will come in from the garden when called. Sammy really dislikes being picked up, so I'm avoiding putting her through that stress. She is going to need a very experienced groomer and someone with oodles of patience and time Sammy is a beautiful girl, the demons of her past still sadly haunt her occasionally but to share her recovery journey is extremely rewarding and one which will bring you tears of happiness at times.

02-06-23 UPDATE

Sammy has been in foster with me for 2 months, in that time she has grown into a happy playful girl. Sammy would make a wonderful companion for another dog who like to play.
Things to consider if thinking of adopting sammy - Sammy can be walked on a slip lead but she doesn’t like a harness being put on her, she will go to her safe spot to have her slip lead put on & will try to hide away but as soon as the lead is on she walks by your side on a walk.

  • Sammy has recall if you want her in from the garden
  • Lovely playmate for another dog
  • Walks nicely on a slip lead
  • Sleeps through the night
  • Will sit on the sofa next to you
  • Doesn’t like to be picked up
  • Will need an experienced groomer !!
  • Won’t like crowded spaces

Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
