02-02-23 Thania originally came to us from a breeder to find her forever home she was adopted but returned after a couple of days as she is deaf. Her adopters found it difficult to call her in from the garden as she has quite a high prey drive and as she could not hear, it was difficult to bring her back when she fixated on things she wanted to chase so her adopters made the difficult decision to return her. Thania will need a home with no small furries and where her new owners have some experience with deaf dogs or are willing to look into the specific needs of a deaf dog.
She is a very gentle girl who is quite shy at the momeny but is very friendly and loving. She loves other dogs and would be happy to share her home with a kind dog to be her friend and help her to settle in and we will assess her more to see if she can be an only dog.
Thania can already walk on a lead but may need some practice with this. She prefers walking in quiet and rural areas at the moment as she can be very fearful of passing cars and beomes very startled and reacts fearfully as they pass. We are working on this with her but she would benefit from a home in a more rural area.
She is looking for a calm and quiet, active home with someone who has lots of time and love to spend with her. She has never lived in a home before so this will all be very new to her at first and her adopter will need to be kind and patient as she learns new skills like house training. She is a little underweight at the moment and so will need a good diet in her new home to build her up. With time and love she is going to blossom into the most wonderful friend. She is a sweetheart and who just needs some extra training and understanding in her new home for her thrive and most importantly for her to be safe. She has a PETS travel passport document.

I met Thania when she first came in she was little shy and reserved. She has gained a lot of confidence since. She walks on a lead but will need some training to walk to heel and not pull on the lead, I am sure this won’t take long with little patience. She does seem to have a high prey drive and lots of energy to go with that, Thania will need an experienced home that can work with her to get her focus to you. She will need an active home. with lots of brain games to help with her energy levels. She will need to learn house training. She does like to play with her kennel friends and would love to have a new brother or sister she can play with. She can’t live with cats or small furries pets.

Thania is such a lovely girl, appearing to be confident, which she is with people, but not certain situations. I took her for a short walk up the road and she was fine until a car passed and then had a bit of a meltdown. I don't know why she does this, but it can be and is being worked with. Thania needs special people with certain skills to help her through the adjustment of being in a home, teaching her what fun life as a pet can be. What a darling girl, I know that her future mum and/or dad are out there.

Thania is an absolute angel! She honestly is one of the sweetest dogs we have here at the rescue, she loves to see you coming towards her kennel and will greet you with lots of love when you enter her kennel. She will jump up to say hello to you and if you kneel down next to her she will simply stand/sit next to you while you give her lots of cuddles. All this lovely girl wants is lots of love and cuddles even when she is eating her food she will go back and forth from the food to you just because she wants that affection from you. She walks so lovely on the lead. She will still need someone special to take her on as she is deaf so she needs someone who has the patience and understanding for her to truly settle in to a home and get in to a steady routine. She is such a joy to see when working and I know she will be the perfect addition to someone’s family as words really cannot describe how sweet this girl is!

Amazing lady Thania. Yesterday we went for a walk, 2 cars passed and Thania did not react! This is huge for Thania, and hopefully a real sign of progress! I am so proud of her, and excited to see how she progresses from here. She's such a loving loving gorgeous girl. She needs someone who's super patient and willing to listen to what she needs and work with her in her special ways. She's so sensitive that I don't think telling her off or correcting her would be the way forward for her. She needs someone who is confident with high prey drive dogs, who knows how to provide healthy outlets for her, like a flirt pole every day! And how to manage her quirks and teach her what's more appropriate gently. Honestly she will be the MOST loving, loyal and rewarding companion for someone who's willing to work with her!

Lovely Thania continues to make awesome progress. She's now starting to enjoy walks and sniff around once she gets past the initial frantic stage. She isn't interested in food when she's out and about but toys and fuss as a reward/comfort seems to be working really well.
I really need someone to take a chance on Thania asap, as she is craving companionship with her very own human. I'm now confident to say that Thania could be an only dog providing the people are confident and very experienced, and that she could have play friends and play dates regularly. But seeing how attached she's come to me I definitely think she'd be fine as an only as long as her humans were around most of the day. I cannot tell you how much love this girl has got to give. In the video attached, Thania has the entire yard to run around in and chooses to stay for cuddles while watching the birds tease her!

Gorgeous girly Thania is still waiting for someone devoted to her needs to appear. She is the most loving, loving lady who just needs stability, consistency and endless love. She has been doing really well with her walks, and now more often than not she won't react to passing cars (providing she's handled correctly at exactly the right time.)
She loves her food and her favourite thing in the world is to be hand fed, yes she has me wrapped around her little paw!!
She loves playing chase with a fluffy toy, and this helps her get some of her chase energy out too in a healthy way. Honestly once she trusts you, she lets you do pretty much whatever you want, as long as you're touching her she's happy! (See photo, she got herself up there!)
If you have been following Thania's updates and considering her, then please pop an application in, and we can discuss anything you're hesitant about further. With the right human(s) Thania will absolutely thrive and I hope they turn up sooner rather than later!

Thania has been doing so so good lately. She is so confident and happy in her daily routine. We have been doing walks every day and I can't remember the last time she reacted to a car. She is still scatty as anything but she is improving massively. Today I took her in the opposite direction than we usually go and she did become more stressed, so any potential adopters really need to be invested in the long haul, with endless patience and love for this special lady. It's clear that once she knows something like a walk or a different yard, after a few times then she is happy and confident with it, but new things are absolutely terrifying for her. Thanias ideal set up would be a big (&secure) garden so she can get her physical needs met before pushing her into any walks she isn't comfortable with. I have been walking her around parked cars as part of getting her used to cars and seeing them as not so scary, and I'm hoping now to move onto getting her comfortable to hop in one, and hopefully progress to her being comfortable with it actually moving with her inside, so that when her adoption turn finally comes it won't be such a stressful ordeal to get home via car!
Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
