If you are interested in adopting a dog that does not say it can be homed with a cat and wish us to cat test please let us know and we will be happy to do this.

22-01-23 Dianella is a lovely but very nervous girl who has come to us from a breeder.  She is worried about us and depends a lot on her kennel friends to help her feel safe and secure. She is very fearful of people and is not used to feeling kind hands stroke her or hearing kind words spoken. Dianella  will need a calm, quiet and experienced adult only home with at least one kind resident dog to be her friend and help her to settle into her new life. They must be happy for her to share their beds and cuddle up to them for comfort and support.  As Dianella has never lived in a home before and this will be quite scary and overwhelming at first and she will need to learn new skills like house training and how to walk on a lead. These are things which may take her a while to pick up as the garden may be a scary as the house at first so her adopters need to have plenty of patience and love to help her learn and be sure she is comfortable walking on a harness and lead in the garden before taking her for a walk in the outside world. Dianella has a Grade 3 heart murmur. She doesn't require any medication for this but it will need to be monitored by her vet and their adopters.

22-02-23 UPDATE

I’ve been working with this very precious girl from the day she arrived at Many Tears, and I am so beyond proud of her and how far she has come. She’s been with me for exactly 1 month now and she’s made a lot of progress in that time, but of course she does have quite a way to go. That’s okay though, I’m taking everything slow with her and going at a pace that she feels comfortable with, which seems to be working. When she first came in, she would scream when I needed to pick her up which was just absolutely awful. You could see the fear in her eyes and the panic in her voice was enough to reduce me to tears. I knew I needed to show her that she didn’t need to be afraid of my hands, so I’ve been slowly introducing touch to her every day and building up her tolerance. She will still run away if I approach her, but she’s definitely not as flighty being handled now as she was, and she doesn’t scream anymore which is the main thing.

Dianella will still need to be homed with at least 1 kind and confident resident dog for her to follow around and copy. She is very playful with a couple of her kennel friends which is absolutely lovely to see, so a playful resident dog would be really, really nice for her. She’s currently kennelled with a range of different breeds, male and female, and she gets on with every one of them beautifully. In fact, she’s never once been an issue the whole time she’s been at the rescue! What a little darling.
Even though Dianella is still afraid of us humans, she does find joy in food and toys and she is generally a happy dog. Her tail is always wagging and she seems content here in her routine at the rescue. I think she will be overwhelmed when she first gets home and it will take a good while for her to come out of her shell, but I know she will get there eventually. She just needs time, love, and a whole lot of kindness.

28-03-23 UPDATE
Dianella has been with us for nearlly 3 months now and she's come on so much in the 3 months she's been here. She will put her feet up on your lap, if she thinks you have something tasty, and is also very nosy! Dianella gets on really well with all dogs of the same size but could go to a home where there are bigger dogs too, as long as there was at least one dog of the same size for her to cuddle up to. She is quite happy to be around people but is still nervous of being touched. She doesn't snap anymore when handled but can be wriggly. She is looking for an experienced home with someone who can continue to work with her

18-03-23 UPDATE

Dianella is settling in well to her foster home.

01-06-23 UPDATE
Dianella is doing so well in foster and has made herself very comfortable. She loves snuggling with the resident dogs especially a certain little bichon as you can see in the video. She will need a forever home with another resident dog as she does not know life without them. She is such a sweet girl who you can't help but adore!

Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
