07-02-2023 Norman origianlly came to us from a breeder and is a stunning boy. He has sadly been returned as although he is VERY friendly he has also learnt behaviour that means anything on the floor he believes is his. He will growl and if you don't back off will nip if you try to take it from him.
Norman needs to learn some self-control and if you are interested in adopting him you need to be an adult only home who have experienced with dogs like him.He has met children from a distance when walking and did not seem comfortable so we would not recommend he is homed where there are visiting childrne and you will need to be mindful of this and and his need for continued training. Crate games which are NOT about locking your dog in a crate but teaching it self-control in a fun way or other training methods from someone like Susan Garrett could also be of help.
Norman if a very smart and active boy who gets on well with other dogs but really does need a home who have dealt with dogs like him before. He has the perfect mind and body to do agility and is smart, atherletic and very interested in learning.
This is a wonderful dog but one who has learnt how to get away with bad behaviour but if you are an experienced owner and can offer him the home he needs and have the time and patience to work with him you will be rewarded with a wonderful dog to have in your life. Norman will need a cat free home.

Norman is a big lovable gorgeous retriever and he knows it. He ’s just like a really big puppy who will jump all over you as he has no understanding of what is acceptable. He was adopted but returned as he took something that wasn't his and protected it and wouldn’t give it back. Due to this, he is going to need an adult only home with someone with experience with dogs who have shown resource guarding. He would need an active home with someone who has the time to train and exercise him. After all said, he loves to play and likes to please. He sits and gives paw and loves a belly rub. Not only this, apparently he doesn’t mind any tv programs and will sit through all of them as long as he’s getting a belly rub. If you like big dogs and have the time to train him, Norman will make a lovely addition to the family.

Look at this gorgeous gorgeous boy, Norman. He knows home comforts and I believe Norman protects what he thinks is his because he's had everything he could ever want, and then lost it all. TWICE!!
Norman has had everything a dog deserves, and lost it all, yet again. He is the most affectionate boy in the whole entire world. He wants nothing more than love and attention. He will make such a perfect companion. He is breaking my heart.
Norman loves his dinner times, his long walks (where he walks right beside you) and more than anything in the world he loved cuddles. He knows to sit and give paw. He even likes to have a belly scratch and nap halfway through his walks! I am going to start teaching norman a "place," and hopefully get this super solid so that when he does finally go home, if he does start to be protective over an item, you can request he goes to his "place," reward him for going to his place, retrieve the item you wanted and everything is kept calm and neutral. He does not need confrontation.
Norman can live with other dogs, male or female. He can be a little humpy when he's overwhelmed but this is pure overstimulation and it does calm down once he knows the dog well enough. He needs a cat free home.
Norman needs humans who will NOT give up on him when he shows some insecurity. He needs people who are confident in managing guarding, and who have experience. He is a big boy and so needs to be in smart hands. His next home needs to be his FINAL happy ever after. If you feel you can completely commit to Norman, or know someone who could, please, consider him or send his link to people.
