19-02-2023 Indigo is quite nervous at first but when she gets to know you and how nice having a fuss is she will place her chin in your hand and look at like she never wants you to stop! She is a darling with the loveliest nature and is quite calm and gentle. Indigo has come cuts and scabs which are all healing and she is underweight at the moment so needs to be built up with small but frequent meals. Her hips dont have the best range of movement and she doesnt have much muscle on her back legs yet. She may have an old injury that has caused this and things may improve as she exercises more and gains weight, but she will need to be monitored by her new vet and may need a referral at a later date.
She will need a home where there is at least one other dog to be her friend and support as she gets used to living in a home and she has never lived on one before. She will watch what they do and then start to copy them which will help her with house training and lead walking etc. These are things which may take her a while to pick up so her adopters need to have plenty of patience and love to help her learn and be sure she is comfortable walking on a harness and lead in the garden before taking her for a walk in the outside world.
06-03-23 UPDATE
Morning. I came on my holidays to Dover yesterday. I travelled well in the car but didn't want to get out when I got here. I was wagging my tail but not brave enough to get out. So I was lifted then I walked on the lead to the garden with my new companions. I spent a lot of time in the garden as I wasn't sure about the house. FM ignored me and called me occasionally, so after a few hours i went in. FM sat on the floor so I went over for a stroke then I didn't want her to stop. I curled up in a ball on the floor but later realised a bed is softer. I take treats gently. I am very hungry but have eaten in close proximity to the others no bother. There is a thing called a cat who lives here as well but I am not bothered about him. I had a good night sleep and this morning did not want to get up. I went in the garden for a pee then went back to bed. FM put a harness on, but I didn't want to go for a walk. I stayed in bed until breakfast. I am very gentle and enjoy a stroke. I am very thin so FM is giving me oils and powders and I am being fed three times a day to build me up. So if you can give me a home please be prepared for spending time and money on getting my body in to good shape. It will improve with good food and care. If you live a quiet life with time to devote to bring me to life, then FM says I am a beautiful girl waiting to shine. No children please that will be too much. In time gentle walks and now lots of fuss and love. See you soon.
08-03-23 UPDATE
Morning. Foster Mum is so proud of me she says you need an update. Well Monday lunchtime i decided I would go for a walk, well a sniff round the block! I do not pull but do zigzag as there are so many smells. I am now doing 3x 10mins walks a day. This is to build up my muscles gradually and not overdo it. I have met other dogs and people and wagged my tail and had a stroke. I am fine to sleep whilst you work from home and good to be left a few hours if you have to go out. I am 95% clean in the house. I love my 3 meals a day to build up my body. I take treats gently. I do snore and happily share a bed with house mates. So I am friendly and affectionate. I love a good stroke. I am fine in the car and with cats. I would like to meet you if you are single or a couple who would like a gentle companion. If you can build me up gradually in a calm quiet environment. I will wag my tail and adore you. Look forward to seeing you.
13-03-23 UPDATE
Hi there. I have been on holiday for a week now. I have come on well. I am increasing my exercise gradually. I went to a secure enclosed field today and met a bunch of MT labradors. I came back to FM no problems. I am quite cheeky, playing with my house mate and when FM is out I popped up on the sofa. I enjoy my food and take treats gently. I am working on putting weight on. I snore loudly. I am very gentle and affectionate. I would like to have a quiet, calm home who will give me lots of strokes, good food and gradual walks.
Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
