25-02-23 Taffy has come to us from a breeder as an unsold puppy. Once he gets to know you, he is a very sweet boy but he is initially quite scared and very fearful and can be usure of our intentions. Once he settles in to his new home we don't think it will take him long to start to come out of his shell and leave his worries behind him. Taffy will be looking for an active, adult only home with adopters who have experience of the Collie breed and who will kee him both physically and mentally stimulates. He loves his kennel friends and will need another kind and confident dog in his new home to be his friend and playmate. As he's just a puppy he will need to be regularly socialised and will need to learn all about house training and walking on a lead. He is a handsome boy who has so much potential to blossom into a little star.
You will be asked to sign a contract confirming you will spay/neuter a puppy and we ask that a puppy attends puppy classes so they can socialise with other dogs and people.
08-03-23 UPDATE
Well what a difference a foster home makes! This boy is unrecognisable from the description above, when he was in kennels. He is, quite simply, the perfect puppy and has been no trouble at all. He's happy and playful and also loves a cuddle, totally at home in the house and garden.
He's taken to house training immediately, he's learnt to sleep quietly in a crate overnight (and goes into his crate for a nap of his own accord), he loves all humans, rushing to greet them all and trots around with a constantly waggy tail. He'll play with the resident dogs and then nap at your feet, or on one the dog beds, or maybe even the sofa. We've had him on a harness and lead and he walks well.
He is quite chilled for a collie puppy, but will need a home that can offer him an active lifestyle, with people around and plenty to do to keep him busy as he gets older, fitter and more confident. He could go as an only dog in the right circumstances, but will also be happy with resident dogs, and will be fine with older children. He's going to grow into a typical collie who will be your best buddy and wants to spend his time with you.
PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
